CHUCK! and Sarah...

I think Chuck would have been cancelled already if it wasn't for the fact that all NBC shows are have really bad audience figure at the moment. I guess we'll have to wait and see but I don't see how it can continue after the 3rd season...the concepts wearing pretty thin now.

You can say that about most shows though - it just takes good writing to still make the concept 'work'. Although S3 clearly isn't the best, still doesn't mean it can't continue to work.

Look at Dexter, for example. Just as the poor S3 made you think it was getting tired - bang - S4 comes along putting it back on course.

The whole 'Chuck' storyline for most people seems to revolve around the Chuck/Sarah will-they-wont-they, and people seem to be under the impression that once they're together, people will lose interest. I say get them together and start developing other areas of the show. There's plenty of scope there.

I'm not 100% sure thats the case. In "The Big Bang Theory", the first two series seem to be largely based around Penny and Leonard's will-they-wont-they. They got together and the show still works, you've got Sheldon stepping up to be the 'central' character.

Again, its all down to good writing. Chuck seems to suffer from some major plot flaws, and they need to start adressing that, although the budget cuts and the constant changing series (S1 was cut short, S3 was extended late on) probably don't help.

I basically worry that once Chuck becomes a spy it ultimately means a change of location and the setting and cast will be lost. The only two options is to continue to further his career as a spy OR have some kind disaster that causes him to have to "keep training" which would smack a bit of deus ex machina because that's not taking it's show to a "natural" conclusion.

Lets be honest, it'd be good if it finished instead of being extended on and cancelled. A sense of BSG style finality to it would serve the show better than keeping it on.

Of course one can't actually say what they'll do. I'm not saying the concept can't be pushed further - clearly it can, but in the end it might be better if it was ended properly.

I'd argue that the Big Bang Theory is wearing very, very thin now. It's just not fresh anymore and it's not as funny as it used to be. The show still "works" but it's no where near as good as it used to be. Chucks in danger of going the same way if it goes on too long.

Indeed, Big Bang Theory works because the characters (well some of them) are funny, the plot is just non existent now

The only way I can see Chuck in a 4th season is if they drop the buymore. Which is a shame as that's where some of the show's best moments occur. Now if they could somehow bring in Morgan, Jeff and Lester as some sort of dysfunctional 'support team' for Chuck's spy life it could work.

I hope thats true, i was quite disappointed with season 3, it only got somewhat interesting halfway through and then it kind of just ended, a shame as season 2 was really good, it felt to me like the biggest story was used up too early if they knew dexter might go on for a few more seasons, they could have made it even better then as well.

I liked S1 and S2, S3 is a bit meh so far.
The whole Chuck being a real spy thing just isn't working

I absolutely love Chuck having only really given it a chance in the last eight weeks - I'm only midway through season 2 at present.. Of course, Sarah and Ellie are an added bonus ;)

The ending of Dexter season 4 is quite possibly the most shocking moment I've ever seen in a TV series. I'll say not a word more!

One of my mates is on Season 2 still and Google's autocomplete search box thing managed to ruin the season 4 ending for him :D

Without wanting to de-rail the thread, I didn't think much of S3 either. Bit predictable and stale compared to the others.

Ditto! Some numbnuts off another forum spoiled it for me...but...properly shocking! Couldn't believe it myself.

maybe that was a touch rude, sorry. Just seen plenty of threads get deleted on here because people start breaking that one. While yours wasn't technically breaking the rules it would lead to others discussing it...see the next post.
