Max of £3k to spend

Hi

Looking for a new car - max of £3k to spend (preferably more like £2.5k).

I've found a very nice VW Golf 1.8 GTi for £2.5k which I'm going to look at tomorrow if the dealership is open.

Any comments on this car? Any other recommendations?

I'll be doing 7 miles a day to and from work and am currently doing up to 300 miles a month on company trips, will which most likely increase over the next few months/years.

Thought about a Leon Cupra? They are better value at this price range

Leon Cupras for max £3k aren't going to be particularly nice.
Take a look at the Octavia vRS.

To be honest nothing with the VAG 1.8T in it is going to be anything other than a pain for '£3k absolute max'.

I had a Group 17 530i @ 22 and insurance wasnt stupid money, its only a Seat?

It'll be less than a Golf GTI. Ignore capacity. It's all about risk to the insurer with each particular vehicle. How many young people crash a Seat Toldeo V5 vs a VW Golf GTI?

Why are Seat Toledos so cheap compared to most other cars? Found another 2.3 V5 here, from a dealer 61k miles, £2290

Also, the 2.3 Toledo is going to be a bit much on fuel, even the Golf GTi I was looking at is a bit too much on petrol. ;/

Better stick to 1.6 run of the mill hatches then mate if 60 miles to a tenner is too much coin for you...

You don't have to be toe down everywhere you know

Then neither car is a good idea - they are going to cost a bit more to run than a normal car.
