Hi guys,

I bought my car a couple of months ago, it had previously been sat on someone's drive for 9 months and needed a bit of TLC both mechanically and cosmetically when I got it. I've been sorting it out bit by bit and tidying it up whenever I can and I'm very happy with it. I'm just not that keen on the bright orange indicators. They're so... massive and orange. I want to replace them and the side repeaters for either clear or smoked.

What do you think I should go for?

See below for a photo of the car. It might be hard to tell from the pic, but it's in Boston Green:-

Just go for the standard clears off the facelift sports.

The issue you will have is rears. Clear rear Ti clusters are rare, and tend to go for silly money on ebay.

If you're going to de-tango, you'll have to do the rears too otherwise it will look half-arsed, which it will be :p

Don't forget the side ones too!

That looks fantastic.

Thanks! I did take extreme care of that car, shame the new owner has ruined it :(

Side repeaters are only a few quid, and are plentiful.

One thing you will notice from the pic of mine though is the orange bulbs. Replaced them with silvervision in the end, which looked 100x better.

Shame, looked like a great example. 328i Sport?

I'm using this car as a stepping-stone to a 325i/328i of some description. You might have noticed it's left hand drive; I got it for an excellent price and plan to sell it in Hungary when I visit in Summer. It will do me until then. It drives very well, especially since upgrading the 15s to 318iS wheels.

It was a 325i, too early for a 328, a rather early e36 that one.

So, is yours a 316i or a 318Ti?

It's a 316i unfortunately. Got it for £250 though so can't complain! I hear the 318Ti is a hoot to drive. I like the idea of them but I want a 6-pot next.

I still found the 318Ti to be a bit wet. We did transplant an M50B25TU out of a 325i into my mates 318Ti, that made it interesting :D

Interesting, did you have chance to compare it to a 318iS? I know the Coupe has better suspension at the rear but I'm guessing the Compact is a bit lighter.

Haha, I like it. I suppose it would be fairly simple seeing as there was a 323Ti? Have heard of people doing M3 conversions too, must be pretty mental.

It's a relatively simple swap, we did it in 48 hours with only a basic socket set a few trolley jacks, and an engine hoist :)

And yeah, I've compared the 318Ti to a 318iS, and whilst the iS has far better feel from the rear, it's still too slow.
