I'm not quite sure when it started, but I have found myself playing single player games less and less.

They just don't appeal to me as much anymore. After about 5 minutes of playing offline I get this feeling that there's something missing..

Mainly from playing RPG's/FPS's, I just can't find anything that quite matches the experience you get with playing online.

The unpredictability of other players, the randomness, the dynamicness (Is that even a word?). Knowing that your teammates (And indeed your opposition) can adapt to your play style to gain an advantage.

It just feels a lot more fulfilling to me playing along with other people. Even on MMORPGs when I'm off doing my own thing, not communicating with anybody else, just seeing other people around doing their own thing as well just makes the game seem so much more alive and immersive.

It's hard to explain but does anybody else know what I mean?

If that's how you feel then fair enough..Havent seen much in the way of decent single player gaming for a fair bit now in my opinion. There are still some excellent 'old-school' single player games to look at.. But if those aspects of multiplayer gaming are what attract you, then stick with ye olde multiplayer and enjoy until a real SP game comes out :D

Just out of curiosity, what examples of game do you feel disappointed by?

Yup I do, I don't like MMO's there just not immersive enough for me, sound, visuals and animations etc, but wow if oblivion had multiplayer back in the day it would have been amazing, just cause 2 would just be so much better with MP, Mass Effect 2 MMO style would be brilliant, not that I don't love the singleplayer parts of these games but adding multiplayer adds that level of diversity that would be great in the likes of oblivion and mass effect 2

On a whole I find myself playing games in general a lot less (single or multi), their not breaking boundaries and reaching the potential of what they could be IMO, kinda unfortunate really, just trying to make a profit I suppose

I have exactly the opposite opinion, I love the idea of multiplayer games, MMO's in particular, and they are all brilliant until you introduce human players.

I Find MP better in the fact that it's even

You have the same health and ullet resistence as your enemies rather than you being able to soak up dmg like a sponge and them being as fragile as fine china.

Well the two I've been playing recently are The Sims 3 and Oblivion. It's not that I'm disappointed with them, I've sunk many hours into both, it's just if they had online capabilities they could be so much more.

Especially Oblivion, as craig3000 mentioned, if it was made into an MMO it would be epic.

It's just recently when I start them up, within minutes I find myself back on Diablo II / Bad Company 2 :p.

i have only ever played 1 multi player game because i like progression in games, levels, etc, i also dont have enough time to get 'good' at online games and dont like the multiplayer teenager computer game nerd attitude, i like playing a single player because of difficulty modes and being able to save.

its really hard to find good single player games for the PC.. in fact looking for some now, as i have £40 of vouchers to use..

I think it depends on who you play your games with to be fair. If you get an awful online experience you can quite happily play a single player game for weeks lol. World of warcrafts community frequently made me feel like that and make me play other games instead to get away from the egotistical kids which truly tarnished the gameplay. BFBC2 on the ocuk server with frenchtart and Uv etc is a good laugh as you can get some banter going plus its all taken very lightheartedly with the people with fellow OcUK tags. I can't say the same for other servers though...

At the end of the day, I think it comes down to what type of game it is and definately the people you play with. In my opinion, using world of warcraft as an example, playing with people you know compared to randoms makes or breaks the game and I often feel the same thing in regards to other games.

The only non-mmo I play is GTA4, nothing better than blocking the stairs in the ferrari dealership then going to town on the police for an hour.

My top games are all Single player. Adding multi player to them would have been...nice I suppose if done correct, but the lack of it hardly detracts from the gameplay.

I can only stand multi-player games when I'm with good friends (and they all have damn ps3's...I left them for the PC) so that leaves me really stuck on single players.

Saying that, I am getting quite attached to EVE at the moment and thinking of taking it up. But the game just feels different from other MMO's/online games.

I agree. I started playing a lot less sp games and havnt completed one for since MW1. Then I realised it was all games.

This changed when bc2 came out though...

I love online play much better than single player. I'm not into those Morpigers though because Elves and Wizards are not my bag.:D

Infact the only multiplayer games that I do like are anything that has been made by Dice. At the moment I'm currentley playing BFBC2 all the time. I love that game and before that It was BF2 all the time.

I just love it when I am on form and the adrenaline is going and I'm setting up Flag's to be capped.

Setting up Flags for your squad to cap is like playing Soccer and setting goals up it's poetry in motion though in a Virtual world.

I only really like L4D1 / 2 on mulitplayer & a bit of casual TF2.
Ultimately, multiplayer always degenerates to a brutal attempt to maximise efficiency.
I like to be immersed in a world, explore at my own pace, experience a meaningful narrative & have one time experiences like puzzles & discovery. Only a single player game can really offer this. Multi player always results in grind & repetition eventually.
