Most prejudice area in Britian?

I'd personally say Hull and its due to the simple fact that I had to go to bradford every wedneday with work for a year and the sheer hatred for the place and its people, due to being "foreign" (basically english born people with a tan are foreign to hull folk).

I can also safely say that if you did a racism poll in the centre of hull and aimed it at 60+ age group, you'd be literally horrified at the result.

... this can not be said for Aberdeen.

Yet another ironic post

I've lived in both and prejudice is everywhere, as it is in every other city in the UK.

If you're going to try and present an unbiased view, do so. Or perhaps list the reasons you have for it being otherwise.

Are you simply generalising about Aberdeen's inhabitants, or the people born and bred there?

If you lived there and didn't like it, so be it. There are as many who would say the same about Glasgow, Edinburgh etc.

Not sure what you mean by suggesting it's an iconic post.
I was just posting my feelings about my home city to someone who has had a bad experience.
If you looked back at my previous post http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=16297315&postcount=43 you'll see that I admit to sweeping generalisations.

I accept that prejudice is everywhere, no one stated otherwise, but I feel that it is far more forthcoming in Aberdeen. I spent about 7 years there and on many occasions I did not feel welcome due to my accent. In Glasgow, where I have lived for 5 years, I have not experienced such.

I honestly just found the people that were born and bred there to have some sort of distrust and negative feeling to 'outsiders'.

Just my experiences - it's the only thing that I can draw from.
I love Glasgow, I really do, so I'll defend my city through my experience as I believe that it gets an incredibly unfair reputation and is full of the nicest people in this country.

tbh...

even extreme groups such as the BNP haven't resorted to blowing up the people they hate... yet...

NI has a completely different level of nast bigots on both sides tbh...

The bigotry in Norn Iron is of a completely different type though, apart from the obvious sectarian bigotry, for many years there was practically no racial variation except for the asian community. I used to hear things from my grandparents that shocked me until I realised that they had no point of reference...it was nothing more than ignorance and wasn't actually meant to be offensive.

Anywhere where people are having fairly horrible lives and want to blame it on someone else or not think of themselves as 'bottom of the barrel' because it makes them feel miserable, so they'd rather think 'at least I'm not xxxx'.

Psychologists say if people feel someone else is always, defacto lower than themselves (even if its for something totally illogical like race or sexuality), it actually gives those people a slightly higher feeling of self worth. As in 'My life may be rubbish, but at least I'm not black / gay / whatever ...'

So yes very poor areas tend to have a higher proportion of such people. All actually very very sad ..
