Pretty much what it says in the title i was just wondering if anyone can recommend me some accommodation for the above it will be my first year so looking at staying in halls, self catered :)

Sheffield hallam

-The Forge
- Exchange Walks
- Leadmill Point

Manchester University
-Oak House
-Richmond Park

If anyone could offer and past experiences or recommendation from friends or family would be very grateful as i am finding it hard to make a decision especially for Sheffield Hallam.
Thanks

I was in exchange works, its best you put yourself in one of those larger halls because you'll get a chance to meet other people and find friends who you might want to be house sharing in the 2nd year.

Hope you dont mind the fire drill going off every other day at 4am in the morning.

for manchester girlfriend was in owens park. like schiz said get used to fire alarms for the first few months and constant noise but the rooms arnt too bad and its great way to meet people. Also MSV halls arnt bad and the opal flats if u can afford it are worth a look as some have far bigger rooms

oak house rooms are like prison cells.....but i had one of the best years of my life there. i stayed in sycamore court: 4 guys and 4 girls.

I am pretty set on my accommodation for Manchester now with my 1st choice being Oak house after several recommendation from you and some friends who go there.

Really need some help with sheffield hallam

I the leaning toward The Forge due to it size but i have been told its full of 2nd and 3rd years if anyone can confirm this for me?

Where did you end up?

I'm at The Forge this year, I quite like it and it's not too loud

I was in Charlotte Court for my first and final years at Hallam.

Exchange works - worst halls out of the ones you mentioned by far. It's more like a prison than a halls and if you plan on getting any sleep at all forget it as you'll likely get fed up of all the echoes.

Charlotte Court - Good halls, was brand new in 2003 when I first went to uni there. Had a good time there and would thoroughly recommend it.

Leadmill Point - Very handy due to being so close and it offers a fairly decent standard of accommodation.

The Forge - Was brand new in 2007 (my final year of uni) and I stayed there sept 09 with a mate who'd just started at hallam. It offers a good level of accommodation and is fairly well laid out so you won't get as much noise. It's also handily next to a waitrose and the "curry/kebab/fast food mile" (London road) so handy when you get the munchies after a night out lol.

All in all I would say Leadmill Point, Charlotte Court and The Forge are all equally good and I doubt you'd get fed up in any of them. Exchange Works would have royally done my head in if I'd have stayed there so that depends on whether you can stand constant noise all year.

If you choose hallam, I've no doubt you'll have a great time. I certainly did :)

My girlfriend is in Charlotte Court and i thought they were older than 3 years! :O The walls are paper thin and you can hear if the person next door coughs
