I've got a Gigabyte 780G mobo and just about every single time I start it up Windows 7 only picks the SPDIF output up, which I don't use

Yet as soon as I reboot the HDMI output is found no problems....

I've installed the latest drivers from Gigabyte's website and not the ones that W7 picks up automatically.

Anybody got any idea?

I have had a few issues like this. do you use a receiver? I find that i get this unless i follow a strict switching on procedure, TV, receiver put the receiver onto the channel the HTPc is on then switch the HTPc on, if i do it in any other way its like the pc misses the handshake between it and the receiver.

If there is no receiver involved make sure the TV is set to the correct channel and then switch on the HTPc, other than that i don't know.

No receiver involved but your logic is sound buddy.

I've just done a little test in turning the PC when its not on the correct channel and got no sound.

Did the same again with the TV on the correct channel and sound is outputted fine.

Done each 5 times and got the same result. I think you may have cured it for me fella.

Have some cookies on me :D

Glad to hear mate, had me baffled for days on my system, almost RMA'd the lot until i realised the system was missing the 'handshake'.

I'm having this problem, can't get HDMI audio through my reciever from my laptop for the life of me, it works fine with the consoles and players.

It works if i plug directly into the TV so i know audio is being output.
