Hey guys..
I've just put together a new config for a friend. Unfortunately, the power button connector is not working, and the only way I can turn on the pc manually is by shorting the two power pins inside the cabinet. Now that is not a long term solution. In the BIOS APM, I've set it to turn on every time the power is turned on, and to use a PS2 keyboard or mouse to turn on-unfortunately, that doesn't work all the time, and if it fails, then I have to open the cabinet. And we both don't have a PS2 kb or mouse.

What can I do to turn on the new PC without making use of the power button on the cabinet?

Can anyone tell me how to sort the switch out? The internal connector that has the problem? Or ANY advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!! :)

With mine the above will turn the computer on when i switch it on on the wall

Set it to sleep and keyboard turns it on??

Go to electronics store and make/buy a switch?

Hey JC. I've activated the same settings too, but it isn't foolproof. The keyboard is a USB one, that function only works with a PS2.

I LOVE the reset button idea. That was really so simple! Thanks so much for that!!! I really love it!! I'm grinning as i type this out. Cheers mate!! :D

Simple is as simple does! :P

I had trouble with my reset button breaking so I know you don't need both. If the system hangs you can hold it for 4secs and it'll power off. Not quite a reset but good enough. It'll work fine as a power button, although they're usually small and fiddly. :|

It might be worth popping the front bezel off the case, sometimes it's just a case of the micros witch coming loose and it can be popped back into place.
