Dates: Friday 30th April to Sunday 2nd May

Following on from the successful OcUK camping meets at Silverstone last year for both the Reanault World Series in July and the Le Mans Series in Septemper, I would like to gauge interest for camping for the 2nd round of the FIA GT1 World Campionship to be held at Silverstone.

The usual plan is to setup on Friday evening/Saturday morning to catch the qualifying on Saturday with a BBQ and a few beers to follow that and obviously be up nice and early to watch the action on Sunday.

All the relevent details are below, hope to see some of you there :)

Event Information: http://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/Silverstone-Supercar1/
Camping Information: http://www.whittlebury.com/index.php?pag=cms&id=240&p=camping.html

Silverstone has been such a crap track to spectate at for many many years now, though I did enjoy the Britcar event last year as I watched the race from the pitwall and though I had a few mates in the race I was not 'part of a team' simply my wife and I were chatting in garages and went to the pitwall for the race and didn't get questioned!

This is the last chance for Silverstone for me really, the racing will keep me entertained and the beer will help me along but if it doesn't impress I probably will give Silverstone a miss in the furture except for the Renault Word Series which is/was a good event.

Brands is a much better spectator circuit IMHO.

One and only good thing about Silverstone for the events that I've been to is the screen at opposite Brooklands so you can at least see what's going on out of view. I was disappointed with Thruxton yesterday for the BTCC, whereas Rockingham the next stop is an awesome track as you can see the whole race from the stands.

The best place to spectate at in the UK, without question, is Goodwood come Revival time. No fences to block the view, anywhere, in some places 10 feet from the cars, breathtaking and as I remember from when I started going to places like Oulton and Donington.

I might be tempted to check out Rockingham for the BTCC later this month, not much in the way of 'big' events at Rockingham however. Silverstone seems to get the best of the International events.

A lot earlier this year, went to this in Sept 09. Was a bit meh tbh.

?

The FIA GT openiner has been at Silverstone for may many years. This was the first major even of the season last year aswell, about May time.

The GT event in September was the Le Mans series, which is a different race series.

Put me down as a maybe. I keep telling myself I'll attend one of these meets.

Need to wait for the rotor to be released at work but I'll let you know ASAP.

Hmmm tempting but got a few MOTs this month. Will see how they get on. Would be good to try and spec out our F1 seats :D

Sam, I did get your message. Sorry for not getting back to you. I'm not sure what I'm doing this weekend but if you're coming to the MM I'll have a chat to you there.

I managed to book the Friday off and I'm off the weekend so I could be game for this.

I haven't been to Silverstone for a long time but I personally always enjoyed going.

You can see the whole track at Mallory Park. Only went once many years ago and saw my first Skyline. It was an R32 and no one really knew what it was. Demolished everything else in its field until it broke!
