How do you buy your music?

Previously, I've bought all mine as CDs - full albums, in other words.

Meanwhile, seemingly everyone on the planet has signed up to iTunes (which I always thought had loads of DRM, but looks like that ended last year :D)

So is iTunes the way to buy music, or do you guys shop around, and if so, where do you get yours?
 
CD. I won't touch anything Apple make. I want a physical copy. I want to be able to choose the format i store it in.

There's some reasons, pick your favourite ;)

So what if you want to buy a single track? An old one at that?

Not everyone buys singles, I know ;)

Rarely happens, but i'd then use Amazon MP3, since i keep getting so many vouchers for it.

That or find it on youtube, use keepvid to get the MP4 version and use SoundConverter to get the MP3 sound from that :cool:
 
I'd buy off iTunes, but as far as i know, it's only 192Kbps, which is garbage. I want it at 320.

Mostly buy mine online in the form of a CD. Wanted a album desparately the other day and bought it online in download form from DnB Arena in the form of either 256Kbps, 320Kbps or WAV.

iTunes is 256k now, and DRM-free, according to what I just read.

I have been buying my music lately (last year or so) on DVD, looking for concerts or any other type of music video. I love having the ambience in the background, and being able to have something to look at to go along with the music. The recordings are so phenomenal these days it is hard to think that once CD quality was the best you could get.

With ripping technology these days, it is so easy to convert just the music tracks to MP3 to have them with you. Seems silly not to have the video to go with it.

I'm still looking for the Ultimate '80s MTV DVD collection, though.
 
Never once used iTunes, prefer to have the CD every time. I don't use my pc for music or use an mp3 player so that probably has a bearing on it.

Most of the CDs I buy can be had online, new for a fiver at most, which is a great price compared to how much we used to have to pay on the high street.
 
Amazon mp3 downloads. I get the odd track off iTunes too. I buy CDs of the main bands I like. I'm not too fussed about sample rates. I can't tell the difference to be honest.
 
CD only, for a number of reasons.


1) the "physical copy" thing that people have mentioned.
2) I'm a 70% or so sound snob, and I really don't think MP3s are up there yet.
3) I find that, every now and again, I really like a track that I never liked before, or never thought about. If my music was all downloaded then I probably wouldn't have that track and would have missed out.
4) I like the look of a 450 CDs on a set of shelves!
