Ok so I was getting bored of 'some help please'

I am trying to install avira on my birds vista laptop, I am prevented at installation stage due to a 'conflict' with windows defender'.

Does anyone have any suggestions. I have google'd the ass out of it to no avail.

Yeah, use Microsoft Security Essentials rather than Avira.

I prefer Avira than MSE, but thats just me and both are good. To the OP, load defender and go to tools>options. Turn off real time protection and also untick "use defender" in the admin options of defender.
