Silent Hunter 5 now only £12.98

Looks like there new online DRM has really hit this game sales badly..

Indeed.

I wonder what the cost price to retailers is if they can sell it that low?

The fact is, this DRM has likely cost them sales.

Those who want the game, would have bought it at launch anyway, even if it had no DRM at all, those who pirate it, had no intention of purchasing it anyway.

In this case, those who did want to purchase it (Myself Included) saw the DRM and bought something else.

Next they will say ok make an appointment then one of our clients will come to your house and follow you to your local shop with that he/she will watch you purchase the game etc.

any way as said here before the only people who suffer with this DRM crap is the people who purchase it legit.

They will learn someday. If not they'll go out of business to a new publisher who has a clue.

You do know that piracy can generate some sells don't you?

Let's say I've pirated 5 games, even though if I wanted to buy some of the games I'd buy maximum 1 or 2 games and just play these as I couldn't afford all the games. I might even buy some of these games anyway for the online content, I might as well play some of the games for 30 minutes and decide then that the game is not my type.

I then tell all my friends that I have played this and that and that the games are awesome and they should buy them for PS3/360/PC. They go and buy some of these games.

Sometimes there are no ways of trying the game before you buy it as it seems we get less and less game demos nowadays.

Whatever you want to call it, good games will always sell well. Why do publishers release games on PC anyway, they know they can make some extra money and by adding some crazy new DRM they can even make more profit, it's all about maximising profits and controlling users what they can and cannot do.

They have already killed second hand PC gaming.

But these bad sales can also be very bad thing for us PC gamers....
as these companys may just forget releasing and making games for the PC and just release Console games...

All the games mentioned in this thread are still in the top 10 PC games....

Anyone help with Settlers cheap as its only been out two weeks so doesnt seem to be cheap any where despite the earlier post? ;)

Not sure how much the bugs would have effected the sales.Due to there only being a few subsims games out..

Well I cant speak for everyone of course, but the DRM really didnt put me off. The one and only reason why I didnt buy it was because of the bugs. Been through all the bugs in the last few Silent Hunters and was in no way prepared to go through them again in the new version.
