I think I may have damaged my GTX 275

I had not booted into XP for awhile and did so over the weekend to load up Arma 2. I was getting all sorts of crashes and graphics driver crashes so I checked my overclock and to my horror found that the memory clock was way too high. I corrected it but still am getting a few crashes now and again with Arma2.

I have just checked my temps with Gpu-Z in Vista which is my main gaming OS (had the correct overclock settings) and have found my temps to be way higher while running Furmark. I use an aggressive fan control set-up with Rivatuner and used to get max temps of 66 at fan speed 60. I am now getting 83 at fan speed 80 which is alarming compared to my old temps.

I think I may have to try and cut my losses by flogging my card at one of those trade or cash back places :(

I would feel guilty about the poor guy that buys this card from them.

Maybe remove the overclock and see if its more stable then go from there?

I personally refrain from overclocking stuff too much as it just leads to issues if you push things and it doesn't work...

I just checked temps at stock and I am getting 81 - I still think I have cooked it :(

The HD 5870's are pricey and it's the only card I would consider right now as a replacement.

If it will ease your conscience would be happy to take it of your hands, as a freebie of course, to use as a physx card - AND as an extra bonus if you were to post it to me for free.....your conscience will be in credit.:D

Doubt it will solve your problem but you could try dismantle, clean of gloop, apply good thermal paste(ceramique?) re-assemble.

Could well result in a good drop in temps. and if it didn't you can still sell and ,hopefully, live with your conscience .:p

BTW if the place you sell it it to is one of those that test etc they usually give a yrs guarantee so no need to feel responsible to the buyer from the shop - just the shop.

That's the place. Yeah I suppose you right in that they provide a guarantee. Their testing is fairly basic and probably would not pick up the higher temps.
