Absolute rubbish, I suggest you go back and read the terms and conditions and gain a basic understanding of road traffic law before stating things like that in the future..

I was told this over the phone, I'm still awaiting my policy documents to confirm it in writing.

So your story yet again makes very strange sense. You cancelled your insurance because your THIRD PARTY policy did not provide RECOVERY AFTER A FAULT ACCIDENT, forfeiting your NCB?

Why would you do that?

Is there more to this which you are not sharing with us?

Honeslty, no. I was TPFT insured with Adrian Flux on the MG and they picked me up quite a few times after breaking down :D - I assumed it would be the same with Elephant. Stupid on my behalf really but hey, what can you do.

I can see where they are coming from but at the time it really confused me, why sell breakdown cover if your not going to cover me for when I've broken down?!!?!

I didn't forfeit any NCB, as I didn't put the claim through my insurance. Why would I? They would have written the car off due to it's age, and I wouldn't have been paid out. And no as I said above, I didn't forfeit any NCB.

You didn't break down - you crashed. It's breakdown cover not accident assistance. The AA wont recover you after an accident either.

Why did you cancel the policy and move to another insurer? Surely if there was a cheaper deal you'd have found it before you bought your Elephant policy? I mean who continues to shop for car insurance after the policy they have just purchased takes effect?

You cancelled after just 2 days?

How did you know they were epically turd after just 2 days of cover?

And no insurance company will just "take your word for it" on NCB proof, they aren't in the market to give money away when they don't have to!

After, quite frankly being extremely ****** off after their performance of not helping me..at all (yes I know I had a TPFT policy but in my head I was like 'I've got breakdown cover, I'll be fine') I decided to change. Only reason I didn't go with Direct Line before was because they don't come up on price comparison ones and I didn't research it thoroughly. Saw the policy price and thought 'I can justify that' so took it. After cancelling I took more time (well I had it, I needed car parts!) and found Direct Line to be pretty much the same price but Fully Comp. Done.

I'm not going to argue on the NCB side of things. That's what he said to me, and it didn't matter anyway as I got my deposit back and kept my NCB anyway.

You were paying monthly? By direct debit?

You were lucky to get your deposit back (assuming that is true), I assume they haven't tried to take any payments since cancelling with them, as bounced DD's will look bad on your credit history, even if you have cancelled the policy!

I think there is more to this, it doesn't make sense..

Phate you've told us porkies before on the internet for many years, we've had loads of practice at telling now :p

I wasnt even 2 days into the policy? and Elephant hadn't even asked me for proof of my NCB they actually said on the phone 'we will take your word for it'

When I insured with Direct Line they contacted Adrian Flux who confirmed my NCB :) - So no not really, but I can see why you would ask. Thinking back I was actually pretty scared during all that. Sitting on the side of the motorway with no forseeable way home is frightening :)

elephant have a chase up cycle, if NCB is not provide after 14/21 of policy starting (cant remember exactly what time scale they work on) they will reduce it to 0 years ncb and increase your price. they also provide a 24hr emergency helpline where they will help move your vehicle if you have an accident on a busy road or motorway, breakdown cover would be additional and as mentioned only if the car breaks down not if the reason for it not working is because its been crashed

Since when does crash = break down?

It doesn't. Read my above post. When with AF they would still recover me when I broke down despite being TPFT. I assumed the same, wrong of me yes, but I know better now.

See above, was very ****ed off with them so hunted around again, more thoroughly and changed.

Not buying it. Everything you've said so far has been proven to be incorrect by a mixture of people with experience with that sort of policy and even people who seem to work for the organisation. Then you change the story a bit. It's typical 'Phate is making it up as he goes along'.

I am sooo curious as to what really happened now :D

But you DIDN'T break down, you crashed. These are two very different circumstances.

If you HAD broken down, elephant would have recovered you, TFPT or not.

Yeh monthly, by direct debit. And my credit history is rubbish anyway, but yeh I got my deposit back.

No doubt you do. You ALWAYS do when it comes to me (which given my past is fair enough) but I honestly don't care whether people believe me or not. That, is what happened. You can ask -westy- (he was one of the people I rang when it happened), and he'll tell you exactly what I was like down the phone. Quite scared, panicing, fuming and overall not in an amazing mood :D

Yes everything I say will be ripped apart to the tiniest detail and I'll end up repeating myself constantly and this thread could go on well into the early hours and IRC is probably going mad "ZOMG PHATE IS ON OCUK LOOOLZZZ" - but hey, thats OcUK :p :D

You can hardly blame us, every time something WTF happens to you we get some weirdo story before you eventually give up and tell us what happened :p

No, I simply add more in the more you question :D

If you really want to get into it and question me to your hearts content you know I'm on msn

I didn't say to them I had had an accident, if they had turned up and gone "na, sod that" and left, then fair enough. I told them I had BROKEN DOWN and it should be covered under my BEERREEEAAAAKEEE DOWN covah!

Meh, maybe I just have the worst luck? :p

No, everytime something happens I'll tell you what happened, then it'll be analyzed more than NASA analyses data from the freakin moon and I get question on it and somehow someone will make a link between 2 pieces of information, decide I'm speaking BS and then everyone else will join in. More than used to it by now :p

What kind of 'cooling off' period do you get with policies, could you cancel under that premise?
