I wanna get a new camcorder and upgrade from my old Hi8 but whats the best full 1080 one out there at the mo i looked at the sony HDRXR105E.CEH online and looked at some 1080 youtube vids and wasn't that impressed with the quality TBH.

Any owners or people in the know please let me know budget would be about £1000 for camera, bag, accessories, spare battery

Red One Epic.

Oh, £1000... erm. Sony, Panasonic and Canon are usually pretty good in that kind of price range. I would look at the HDC-TM700.

do you know if the content has to be offloaded to blu ray disc or if your making short videos can they be put onto dvd's instead as if thats the case i'll need to pick up a blu ray recorder

I have 2 CX105E's and they are only £300/350. I'm editing some clips I've used at the moment and although I stuck the camera on the outside of a car they look alright for a point and shoot camera.

I believe the new one that Panasonic (TM-700) have released is meant to be the best, also does 1080/50p recording, which you could use for either super smooth footage (although you'll need to wait for editing apps and televisions to catch up) or slo-mo effects. O yea it has a 35mm lens too.

HD footage will need to go onto a Blu-Ray but you can encode your edit to an SD file and put that on a DVD.

edit/ I should add that you can burn a HD file to DVD but you won't be able to play it in a DVD player.

Where did you see the CX105E for £300-£350? Cheapest I can find them for is ~£370!

i'm liking the look of the TM-700 just in budget with spare battery and case.

What would be the best choice of editing everyone seems to rave on about sony vegas but is there any alternatives i only buy retail so needs to be under £100 unless there is any really good freeware.

Amazon, I paid £350 and then had had a £60 cash back fron Sony but that offer has expired and the price of the camera has gone up £40!

 That's insane! I've just got a Panasonic SD10 rather than stumping up the extra cash for a CX105E although there is a slight rattling noise (not as if something is loose, more like a switch or movement sensor...) inside it. Going back to the shop after work to see if that's normal or not!

The onboard and external rear show was shot with the CX105E. I have two cx105's but broke one during the filming...can you see where? :o

:D
