I don’t know Aberdeen at all in terms of nightlife so it would be good to get some opinions.

There will a be a group of 5 ladies out for a hen night (not dressed up in Hen night attire, just dressed up smart!), so can you tell me which are the best pubs/clubs to go to on a Saturday night? We will be staying just up the road from Union Terrace Gardens, so central places would be best. Also bearing in mind we prefer nice places that aren’t rough (some places these days seem to be filled with ladies of rather loose morals and guys who are just out for a fight). There will be quite an age range going so if someone who is 25 is going to feel ancient then maybe that won’t be the place for us ;)

thanks

Pub wise, I quite like Revolution or the Athenaeum. I'd say Ninety-Nine or Soul would probably be good recommendations.
Clubs... I'm not sure there's a place that isn't filled with the people you've described... :P

Snafu always has some good music on, maybe a bit too much though...
Tiger Tiger is supposedly alright, although it's the most pretentious place on Earth, not for me.

Hardly, it's Aberdeen :p

Exactly. I have seen someone lying in the street with blood pouring out of a wound and some coppers wrestling someone to the floor. Seen loads of fights in the streets too.

We like the Boogie Bar. Plays 60's and 70's music. Have'nt been for a night out in Aberdeen for a good couple of years now as we got fed up with the drunken idiots fighting all the time.

I dunno, I think it's as bad as any other city really.
I haven't seen many as many fights recently and *touch wood* have not got into any myself.
Just depends where you go I guess.

Edit: Curse my lateness with that opinion. :D

Monkey House is a good bar in the centre of Union Street. It's one of the most striking buildings along the street. Siberia and Revolution are both good vodka bars on Belmont Street (Siberia has more emphasis on flavoured shots and premium vodkas, revolution has more long cocktails and other drinks).

Belmont street does tend to get pretty crowded on Saturday nights though with the 'loose moralled ladies and fighty blokes' due to the Priory being nearby. The Wild Boar is also along this street and is O.K. Soul is also a good suggestion as it seems like the kind of place you're aiming for.

Thanks for the replies so far, some good suggestions. Soul and Paramount look like the sort of thing we are looking for. I was in Revolution just before Christmas and it was good, though we were only in there until about 9ish I think until we needed to go and get the train.

Ma's is good too, atmosphere wise. But I found the food there to be pretty bad. McGinty's is muuuch better (for both atmosphere and food)

if soul and paramount are your type of places you'd most likely want to start up that end and you can go across to Chi for some cocktails. I think Tiger Tiger sounds like the club you'd enjoy most, then you can go back up to soul casino once Tiger closes, for some drinks and toast :D
