Have read through this thread firstly with interest and secondly with the thought of ... oh,oh, here we go again. My twopenneth (for what it's worth):-
Have owned both - little problems with either; all of which were usually cured fairly quickly.
Do remember trying hard to see the difference in 'quality' that was sometimes mentioned; tbh could never see it in actual use ; although I could see the difference when comparing frames sometimes I do not usually play games a frame at a time.
Some time ago I did take the view that nvidia were more on the ball with Ati taking too long with driver releases but then they reversed position. Nvidia appear, finally, to accept the Amd approach of regular (not quite monthly, as if it did they would simply be copying which is , of course, a no,no..) driver updates is the way to go.
I am NOT praising either of them but
because of both of them we, the punters, now get the regular updates that we all need

Last comment I would make is more general in nature and not aimed at anyone on particular more just to observe that I believe that these forums are a truly excellent place for good and ,usually, unbiased advise and with this in mind would make the following simple observation :-
If you do not like a particular make or brand then do not buy it !!
At the actual moment you decide that you are never buying that make etc again it would be fair to say that in your opinion because of your experience to that date that product is not worth buying and the one that you replaced it with replaced it is better BUT once that product or its drivers have been changed that opinion is
no longer valid. (by all means mention that in the PAST this or that product was c... but please observe that this was then and may NO LONGER be true!)
Apologies - Rant over
