what is the advantage of the Saphire 5870 Vapor X over the standard ATI RADEON HD 5870 ?

I really want to get the ultima vanquish system but can see that the Saphire 5870 Vapor X is no longer an graphics option ??

Am i going to notice that much difference between the vapor x and the standard 5870 option that is now available?

If so, ill wait till back in stock before purchasing the system

Thanks

You'd think so, but as the Vapor-X cards are a non reference PCB's you can't increase voltage like you can on the stock 5870. Thus your overclocks are worse ;)

so in all honesty id be better in the long run with the stock 5870 card? im not exactly expecting a heatwave to be coming to the UK anytime soon so cooling cant be that much an issue?

Reference 58xx's run pretty cool, even when highly overclocked. Reference is the way to go for those who plan to overclock.

Big issue: You cannot change the voltage on the Vapor X and therefore you cannot get to 1GHz. But, it has awesome cooling. Mine never go above 60deg

OK,
My mate DIDNT just get one. OCUK "Oversold by 36 cards" had no intentions of telling my mate and then asked him to wait 2 weeks for stock.

Chargeback *** and rebought a REF card.

My stock 5870 set at Vapor setting's 875 / 1250 > room temp 20'c > 5870 idle temp's > 34'c fan at 21'%, Gaming never goes over 64'c / fan at 28% can't hear the fan at all and PC is right next to me. :)
