Online Threats

Send emails to Blizzard, he'll get his account banned. Blizzard takes such things very seriously. Just give them a ring.

Loss of all those lovely characters he's spent endless hours working on? Priceless. ;)

I can imagine him talking to his army "mates"

"you want to go round and threaten someone"
"Maybe...what did he do?"
"He moved to another team in an online wizard game"
"hahahahahahaha.......you're on your own nerd boy"

To be honest, you don't actually know anything about this chap. You only know what he has portrayed on the internet. He might be absolutely mental. I suggest strongly that you do not threaten him or aggravate the situation. When he messages you, simply take screen shots (preferably) of what he is doing, and build up a detailed log, so should it escalate or get worse, you have evidence you could take to the authorities.

Need update from the OP as to the details he has on mr hard internet man to make this an epic thread.

But seems hes offline, maybe the party started early :o

Don't worry about it. I can assure you 100% that if he is a Soldier of any merit or received any specialist training of any sort he would not inform you he has your address or he's bringing mates. He would just turn up wait until he had followed you into a quiet spot then give you a good smacking. He would never mention it to anyone, probably not even his closest mates. Forget about it but if you can't then just contact the military authorities. Details can be found from or through this site.

In fact do worry about it! He is obviously not a solidier, he is obviously a mentalist.

I'm a bit busy with work but I'll answer some questions.

It was a semi-hardcore-ish guild, with a website etc. There was a 'post a pic of yourself' thread so I chucked up a picture along with everyone else, so he knows what I look like. He has my address and full name which is a bit disturbing but more so at how easy you can find that stuff out.

I know 100% he's in the forces, his wife played the game too and they regularly had barnies whilst on voice comms giving us all a glimpse into the family life. His pictures were all consistent and everything he would talk about all indicates that what he was saying was truthful. He would go into a lot of a detail about his career and life etc, a little too deep if you ask me (regularly discussed his sexual encounters in front of 20-30 other people on ventrilo).

The problem I have is I know he's called Neil but that's about it, when I left I was locked out of the private area of the website and so I dont have access to any of his information so it's literally in the GMs hands at Blizzard.

I'm not out to cause a riot, I just want him to bugger off. Oh and yeah I'm mid 20s and it's not a roleplaying server just a regular one.

As for the direct threats, he's been quite clever about that - looking at what was written it suggests we're old buddies yet they're subtle threats to myself.

Tell him he slept with his wife and daughters?:p
Come on, his "wife" is a blow up doll and his "daughters" are a two girls he stalks outside the local school.

Just ignore him. Get all his details and if things go any further report him to the police and get an injunction.

Jealousy/anger online (especially in a MMORPG) can have serious effects, as well as none at all! Some examples are the murders/suicides of online players which you can find the news articles on google.

I would laugh this off but if he is quoting your address, you have clearly slipped up somewhere - you already know this but you should never give your details out online, especially on these games where a best friend can just as soon be your enemy.

If it was me, depending on the situation I would either:

1. Tell my family/other inhibitants of the home and that I will be going to the police

2. Continue as I am and be weary of any stalkers/crazy people, taking and dealing with problems as they come.

One thing I would advise against is going down to his level or enticing him.

I've had a few dealings with idiots like this, you're just another poor sap that he will target until the next one!
