PS3 80GB worth £170 new from supermarket?

As titled, my local supermarket has the 80GB ps3 for £170, is it worth it?

I assume they have stock as they have the little DVD boxes out.

THE ps3 would only be used for ps3 exclusives. I would only buy second hand exlusives cheap like I would start with Resistence 1 for peanuts first, then get say heavy rain later in the year when it's dirt cheap second hand....

Good idea to get an 80GB if it's instock, whats the advantage of the slim?

Theres £80 difference, which is a lot really, well to me anyway.
 
Phoned my local asda and they have loads of the 80gb ps3 left.

BUT... they also have the 120gb slim for £217 if I buy a top 30 game and according to the lady on the phone I can buy one of there cheap games, like Dragons age for £15, so thats £232 in total.

Which one to go for?
 
They all play the same, so just get the 80gig one. May as well save a bit of cash for more games, and the older PS3 looks better too, in my opinion of course:)
 
If it comes with a proper warranty I'd just get the 80gb model considering it's £62 less and you won't be using it all that much. Also that £62 could be spent on like 4 - 6 top notch second hand games.
 
HDD of a big size aint needed tbh, my meda streamer is used to access avi over the network

The ps3 will be used purely for a games machine.

The one year warranty should be handled by sony anyway.

I think I even still have my old saved games from whenh I owned a ps3 before xmas.

Wanna complete uncharted if I can find save games on my USB HDD :D Should be able to get uncharted for chip money?

My only concern is that the 80GB wont be worth any money second hand, which I assume won't be an issue as I'll keep it until ps4 comes out.

is the 80gb not gonna get any 3D support or anything else of that nature?

My mate upgraded last week & we have to disagree. The new slim is just as clunky & he reckons if he was honest it's Noisier. Sound once loaded to Hd obviously but being smaller it gets hotter quicker so the fans spin up more.
Also the old fat one looks better & the dust doesn't stick to it, The slim matt one looks a bit crap to be honest.
Personally I would say buy the fat one & use the money to buy 2nd hand games, It's Brand new so warranty is not an issue, If 2nd hand i would go with the slim.

Your luck enough to have 120gb slims in stock. All 3 of my local Asdas has been struggling to get them in for weeks. Want to get rid of my 60gig phat before it gives up.

Tell me about and the none supermarkets which has them in stock have put up the prices of 120gb and 250gb slims!!:mad:
 
I'd save the cash and get the 80GB one, I have a 40GB and it looks much smarter than my mates Slim when he brings it round and I upgraded the hard disc myself for £32 to a 250GB. Some good deals on Modern Warfare 2 at moment so you could get it and Heavy Rain with your saving.

yeh I'm gonna get the 80GB this afternoon. My intention is to use the ps3 for ps3 exclusives only, I bought a 360 last month so will get all multiplatforms on that as all my mates have one and the pad is better.

Just bought GOD collection from MM for £15, then gonna lookout for Res fall of man 1 for like 10p lol.

I'll get heavy rain next year when it's dirt cheap. I wanna start with the launch exclusives as they are peanuts lol. Wanna get games as cheaply as possible lol.
