Care to back that up with reasons??

Cars like the FL2 and Disco 4 (and previously disco 3) are multi award winning vehicles.

Its no great surprise that Landrover are doing so well, every man and his dog went out and bought anythign going from the forecourts during the snow earlier this year!

The Defender and the Range Rover are the only two proper off-road vehicles, the rest are more "luxury" rather than pure off-road, and don't even get me started on the "Sport" BS thing.

SUVs have 2 uses, carrying tools and being and off-roader. If you want "Sport" you get a sports car, if you want luxury you get a barge.

What about the Discovery?

Why do you always have such massively strong opinions on stuff when its clear almost all of them are either nonsensical or just plain wrong? At least I try my best to make my opinions actually make sense.

You clearly dont have a clue!

WTF ?

thats not a criticism of a car thats just a drunken ramble.

The discovery is just as capable if not more so than the range rover off road. If any car has a reputation for luxury wafting its the Range Rover.

And SUVs can be used for whatever use the owners want to put them to. Thats the point of having a car, you do what you want with it !!

I would agree if the only SUVs on the market were the Nissan Navara and the Mitsubishi L200 Warrior. But they're not. The Luxury SUVs are largely if not purely aimed at being luxury, practical, family cars and little else. Nobody expects a Cayenne, Range Rover, X5, ML or Q7 to be used off road.

What if you want luxury, and a high driving position ( and want it to go faster than your average city hatchback)?

This report from "Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders" smells slightly polluted by Labour hyperbole. Because like as if people buying new Jags and Land Rovers would let the scrappage scheme affect their purchasing decision. It might prompt them to "treat themselves" to an extra option pack, if that.

Late April fools?

Why not? Some people prefer the way an X5 feels.

It does't handle as nice as the 5 series, rolls more in the bends .. how does it feel "better"?

surely feel is entirely subjective ?

you cant tell a person that they shouldnt like a high driving position and that bodyroll should bother them ?

Great, so now we're making the Indians richer. Why can't we hold on to just one mass-market manufacturer in this country :(

because last time i looked even the indian manufacturer used locally sourced parts from suppliers here and employed workers here

The unions would be banging on number 10s door if they let car production here go to the dogs.
