So my car was stolen last night.....

Feeling of house having been raped.

Lose. :(

It's for this reason alone that we have internal locks on all the internal downstairs doors. Whatever room you break into (assuming you can even get through the double-glazing without making enough noise to wake one of us up, or without setting the alarm off), you then have to break down an internal door to get anywhere else.

Not if the police find it and then you should really sell the car as stolen recovered which would then lower the value a bit.

Princey I feel sick just hearing about it.

IIRC, "Stolen Recovered" only applies if the car was recorded as such, which means the insurance company would have already paid him as a total loss, it would then be sold to the 'public' and recorded as a Stolen/Recovered..

I had a car stolen, but found the next day, the gits had keyed the car, but had it repaired by the insurance, the car was not flagged on HPI checks as anything but legit, although I did mention it when I sold it 2 months later, as the sparkling paintwork was a bit of a give-away!

Sorry to hear that mate, now its gone lets hope you dont get it back.

Sorry to hear that. I always leave my keys in my room otherwise it's quite easy for them. Hope it turns up.

Thing is, if they want the car they'll get it. Do you really want a guy screaming at you in the middle of the night wielding a machete in your face?

I just leave my keys on the kitchen table.

Think about it, if someone has broken into your house in an attempt to take your car, do you think the fact they are upstairs is going to stop them?

If they can't find them they're more likely to come and smack you round a bit until you tell them where the keys are, than just think 'oh nevermind, i'll just grab the microwave and be on my way'.

edit - grrrr beaten to the punch

Yes perhaps they will get the car either way - but it is a much better idea to make it as hard for them as possible. They never know what weapons you may have hid in your bedroom so you can't knock the idea of making it more difficult for them.

Oh my, this is terrible - I couldn't describe how I'd feel or what I do if this happened to me.

But like they say, every cloud has a silver lining, and yours is GAP insurance - at least you have something to look on the bright side for, just be glad no one was hurt when it was stolen. Was your Dad in the house?
