now I just ordered this bad boy from play, I had to get for my pc because all of my mates have it.
How sad am I? I played it on my mates ps3 and loved it, now I'm old so I can remember the 1st and 2nd games of AVP on the pc, I loved them to, but this is a big one for me, should I get an xb360 controller for my pc to play it on?
I know what your thinking sad git, whats wrong with keyboard and mouse? well I'll tell you, I hate looking for keys all the time when I start a new game.
I'm cool with the old keyboard and mouse, but I have to play the game once over before I get my head around it.
I'll give you an example (mirrors edge) I love the game but because of the lay out of the keys I'm always looking at the keyboard, now I can here the cogs in your mind say, re-map the keys!... lol, now if I did that then it would mess the Che of the game, and would not be the way EA intended it to run.

now there are some games that need keys re-mapping but I would like a better way to play games, and I use to have an xb360, so should I get the controller or not?

and by the way AVP cost me £14.99 how good is that.

let me know what you think...

I bought it on pre-order and I can say that after about a week I stopped playing it and have not since played again. But if you're used to the console versions then fair enough. I used the xbox 360 controller which was fine.

so thats that, I think welshdragon sold it to me, time to get a xb360 controller.
but whatever next, I'm thinking a monitor will be my next big buy then windows 7.

thanks for your help

I hope AVP gets here soon, I can't wait for it any longer, I may end up exploding. lol
with joy... I know what you lot were thinking, get your minds out of the gutter. lol

How much of the game have you already played? I was really looking forward to it on release, bought it and now wish id saved my money. Its such a bad game. Shame because AvP 1 and 2 were both really good.

You really should own a 360 controller (wired is cheapest & easiest) as standard-issue for PC gaming nowadays. It's plug & play, almost all games are supported out of the box, it supports vibration.
For shooters & strategy games, I still prefer a mouse + keyboard but for driving, platform, 3rd person, 360 pad is a nice option.
By the way, don't worry about getting the PC version of the pad, any wired 360 pad, even cheap 2nd hand, just plugs in & works on PC.
As for Aliens vs Predator, there really was a tremendous amount of fondness for the series from PC gamers, they all really wanted it to be great but the consensus seems to be that it really is a throwback in terms of gameplay (people would probably have forgiven poor graphics in the medium term). Of course, if you have a good regular group of freinds to play with who are really into it, then this does go out of the window a bit, you'll play it, learn its niches & make it something greater for your crew than it was, objectively.

Ignore the doomsayers - I loved AvP. I'd have liked the marine campaign to be longer (because that's my favourite part).

To answer your question, I tried playing with the 360 controller, and quickly went back to mouse and keyboard.

I finished the single player of AvP yesterday and I actually really enjoyed it. I also wish the Marine campaign was longer but it was really cool playing the Predator and Alien, both of which took a while to get used to but great fun when you had.

I wouldn't buy a 360 controller for it though.
