Doesn't look like good news to me, maybe better to wait for GF104?

I bet these cards wont be the most reliable ever made either.....I'm fully expecting stories of cards going wrong shortly after some are put to real world use...
With the heat and power factor, you'd be crazy to buy a first gen 4xx card....
With us yet to see the mid-range there may still be a few surprises... 8800gt anybody? Here is to hoping.
I'm certainly looking forward to the GTS 450, i don't expect it to be blazingly fast but i want to switch back to Nvidia for their OpenGL drivers and CUDA. As long as it's a decent amount faster than my 4850 and the heat/power are tamed then i'll grab one right away most likely.
One thing i do hope is that there are some GTS 450's with 2gb RAM. Not sure if that will happen right away but seeing as they released 250's with that much they will hopefully do the same for the 450.
I wonder why they haven't given up on the monolithic die strategy? It's killing them in the consumer space... but maybe it'll be amazing when shrunk and tweaked.
I think if they manage to excel anywhere this series it will be on the mid-range. I havent seen any performance figures but have a feeling that they will compete well and not be much more expensive.
Given that at the same performance level as their ati counterparts the cores are roughly 30-40% bigger, whatever glasses you are looking through its going to be tough for them to compete on price but those binned cores may just have a few little gems in there.
I'd rather wait for the 5890.
