Modern Warfare 2 Free steam weekend!

I didn't pre load, just downloaded it all this morning and i've had no problems.

Are people who pre loaded it the ones having problems?

I have it on 360 and i must say it's so much better on the PC. I've not played online FPS's since around BF2 and it was nice to just pick it up as if i'd never been away. Much easier as well than on the 360 for me, coming top or around the top each game!
 
This is getting ridicules, I pre loaded, then i get the error as everyone else, and few hours ago it started downloading everything again but somehow the download restarts itself every time, first at 10% then at 20% and I come back and its again at just over 10%. WTF, I deleted now everything and starting from scratch again. First time ever I get problems like this with any game.
 
I've been trying since yesterday to download it, clicking the link on steam and no download and nothing in Queue, now I find it's been downloading and it's downloaded 4gb in my Peak download times.

ok possible fix i have done it before with other games am trying this now:
1. close steam
2. cut/paste COD folder out of steamapps (move anywhere)
3. log back into steam go into the game properties click delete local game content
4. find game in 'not installed' part a start redownloading the game
5. when game starts downloading close steam or pause download
6. copy files back into steamapps folder
7. log back into steam or resume download let it download 'the rest' of the game and it should work!
 
i think they have extended the time you can play by a day because of this mess, last night it said 1.8 days left, now its saying 2.5 days

I love this it is nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be I think I may buy it especially if I can get it for under £30.:cool::)

In the 20 games or so I had only 1 was laggy.

They are all pretty laggy compared to dedicated servers, host advantage in Call of Duty is ridiculous. Especially with melee attacks and shotguns.
 
I'm used to playing MW2 on the PS3 and 360 and have just tried it for the first time on the PC. The FOV is completely different and is much narrower! I am running native resolution on my Dell 2407 and have double checked 16:10 in the game's aspect ratio selection bit in the graphhics options.

Please tell me there is a way to get the correct FOV :)
 
Pretty sure this is just the way we play on PC lol

Might be a config file "hack" adjustment for it but tbh im not sure.

I'm also thinking this was one of the many complaints about the PC version, the lack of customization with the configs FOV etc
 
Finally I managed to run the game, I'm lvl 10 now and the game is great :)
It's difficult to say who the cheaters are if any at all. Sometimes I had the feeling that someone knew where I was ie behind a wall or something.

Never really had laggy game only 1 disconnect so far.

I won't be buying MW2 anyway, I might be tempted to buy MW1 though as dedicated servers etc and maybe cos of that less cheaters.
 
Well I got it downloaded in the end (left it on again over night). Had a few hours crack at it and it's not as bad as I thought. Can't see myself paying to buy it yet though, at least not until it drops in price a fair bit!

Bear in mind that UAVs, and those heartbeat monitor things, will show your position to the enemy.
 
11 gb is nothing these days :confused:. But the steam servers do make it slow indeed.



Gave it a try and:

Hit detection response feels laggy ( they die quite long after u shot them sometimes), and u die before u notice you're hit, while when watching the killcam you should have had much more time to respond.
I like the new maps, somehow graphics feel a little bit different too.
I like the new weapons.


So if they fix the bloody Servers, it'd be a great game, it feels too laggy to be fun though for me.



Also, I tried it with utorrent on uploading at 65 kb ( out of 90-100 ish), I still had a ''green'' ping ingame, WTF, what do they consider yellow, 300 ms :confused: ?

Wow very glad I didnt buy this, the online is awful. All they had to do was re-release cod4 with some new maps and guns and they would be on to a winner. Played a few games after the 4th server host migration in two minutes It is off for good.
