Batty neighbour.....

The fence is mine, how do I know this? Well 3 years ago it was 9ft conifers which I took down and replaced with a fence which I paid for.

The old lady who lives at the one closest to me has shouted at me a year back telling me that my cats have been doing do da's on her grass.

I have 2 cats and yes it maybe them, but also everyone around here has cats so it could be any of them. I have had words with my cats and they promised not to do do da's anymore on her lawn.

Now the point really is, is this old lady and her husband allowed to staple chicken wire to my fence? Or shall I now sue her for criminal damage.

Really annoyed me this morning. ( I cut my finger too pushing the wire back through )
You're the annoying neighbour, sorry to tell you. Cats are scum.

Also, no one gives two ***** if you paid for the fence - the land boundaries dictate what is yours, and what is not, as you said above it's on your deeds. The mortgage, rent debate is also inappropriate.

We used to have cat's crapping in our garden, we'd just scoop it up on a shovel and fling it over the neighbours fence or down the back of their shed.
It's incredibly annoying having other people's pets crapping in your garden, and even worse when you don't realise it and run it over with the lawn mower :(

Malc30 it does indeed make it my fence as it is on my deeds. I pay a mortgage for my home not rent like those behind me.

The fence is on my land. Owned by me, maintained by me. It also is 100% legally mine and by law you must ask the landowner permission to paint, hang etc anything onto that fence.

Is it not on the dividing line between the two pieces of land?

I've seen Cats in some strange places but I've Never seen one climb on top of a house to crap before.
This is a Joke & so is your Post !!!

I regularly get the neighbours cats crapping on my front lawn. Is there a reason why I should find that acceptable particularly since they are not my animals? No one finds dog poo acceptable so why should cats be any different.

I got to the point where I came home one day to find a load more poo on my lawn so I took it and dumped it on the offending neighbours doorstep. I've seen one of my neighbours take a BB gun to a cat settling itself on his back garden (not a method I use nor recommend), I thought I was quite restrained in comparison.

To the OP, I think you should leave the wire where it is, your neighbours have tried to prevent your pets pooing on their lawn without upsetting you. They obviously realise that animals will go where and when they like and so if they can find physical measures to prevent that then why not let it go within reason.

If the land directly behind the fence is Council land, cleaned and maintained by the Council..... and the old people Never venture onto it... then perhaps it was said Council that patched your fence????

Either way, just because you bought the fence, does not give you control of the neibouring side of the fence, unless you built it well within your bounderies in such a way as people would need to Cross your bounderies to get to the fence in the first place, if like most people, you built the fence on the limit of your boundery, then whoever owns the land the other side can do as they please, as long as they do not remove or destroy the fence.

Did you really just compare dogs that are only in public when their owner has them on a lead, to cats?

Cat **** is much worse. It's horrible stuff.

I agree 100%. I would hate to have it on my garden. Horrible stuff.

Also, odd thing is..... MY cats come in through my cat flap and use the cat litter tray whenever they are outside. Which is odd. Makes me think that maybe it isnt my cats doing the naughty outside.

That isn't the point, they're not my animals, I didnt choose to own them so dont see why I should clean up after them, they're domestic animals, not wild and at the end of the day, poo is still poo.

Yes but not much we can do about fox poo, bird poo etc that gets on our lawn though is there?

If we had elephant or cow poo then we wouldnt moan as that is great for gardens. Like also Lion poo. But that is getting OT

I have no control over my cat, or any other, whereas I have full control over my dog, so maybe poo isn't poo?

Plenty of people seem to own house cats or have cats that will poo only in their litter trays.

At the end of the day, it shouldn't be my problem nor anyone elses who doesn't own a cat so I shall continue to use methods to persuade puss away from my lawn.

Don't get me wrong, I actually like cats but I resent cleaning up after someone elses pet, I have enough to do with my own furry household. I wonder how that would go down if I started emptying my pet poo on my neighbours front lawn. :D

Absolutely.

We found a good solution at my mother's house to stop the cats ******* in the back garden. Buy French windows. Dogs for the win.

Dogs are fully domesticated trainable animals; cats have never been domesticated in the same way.

Ahhh, so there is an underlying "snobbery" issue to go with this....

I think someone thinks they are better than someone else because they own a house... Some growing up still needing done IMHO and this goes for the rest of the issue....

If someone has stapled some chicken wire onto the bottom of the fence and has done a tidy job of it and not damaged the fence (and I mean proper damage not whinging over some staple holes  ) then whats the deal.

I have cats crapping in my garden. It annoys me because whenever I go to cut the grass I have to watch not to step on it. Cat poo is a messy, sticky, smelly thing with the bonding power akin to superglue so is difficult to get off easily.

I could get upset about it but, TBH, its about as high on my "stressful situations" list as someone attaching chicken wire to the fence in my garden....

For the sake of good relations is it not worth leaving it there? I'm sure your cat will be able to manage the fence in any case if it requires...
It seems as though you have opted for the inconsiderate pedant approach - maybe you should try some role reversal and look at the situation from their side of the fence, it may even seem as though they have done done you a favour in repairing your handywork free of charge!
Is it really worth grumbling about, or do you just have a dislike for your apparently courteous neighbours?
