New 5870

I also received the same model as op today, too.

Can't say I'm too happy about it either as I wanted to match it with my current Sapphire 5870.

Reports of not being able to alter volts on these is off putting too.

Card still in box RMA requested.
 
Really, really interested in this card but I have seen the new 2Gb 5850 Vapor-x and was wondering if it was time to step up to a 2Gb card. I game at 1920 X 1080 with as much AA on as possible and I remember someone posting recently about running out of memory on a 1Gb card, was it with Metro 2033 or Crysis Warhead, not sure, what do you guys think, which card would you go for?:)
 
ive got the vapor-x version i am having no end of problems with grey screens locking up on desktop cant even run rate this computer without crashing....has anyone got any ideas...ive also formatted my pc a few times....at the moment ive put my 4890 back in and that works a dream nps at all...so its either the card or are there different settings in the bios for the 5870 than the 4890 thanks.

Can you try it in another machine? Can't see it being a power problem if the 4890 works ok.

Ok, have bought a 1Gb 5850 Toxic, but not from Ocuk.:(

That is a concern about the water block yes.

I was running qx6800 with water cooling but with this new build i went back to air so i do have all my water cooling kit still and thought of maybe fitting blocks on the cards sometime down the line but now that ideas out the window.

I did want the same card as my original but the card that arrived is not and its also not the card ocuk show in the picture either.

With this new card id say im happy enough but im not delighted i didnt get the card i thought i was buying.

Maybe ocuk arent aware of the change and at the end of the day it still is a 5870.O well.
