I'm looking for a special bottle for the old man. He's 65, means the world to me and just want to say thanks for everything. He loves Glenmorangie, you know the 10 year old single malt you can get from any supermarket for £20-ish, but i wanted something a bit more special, say around the £70 mark.

Should i stick with his favourite? or try something else. Whiskey is whiskey to me, its all minging, but I know that's not the case for those who adore it so wanted some advice. I've been also looking at the: Highland Park 21 Year old which won best single malt, though there seems to be several versions and i dont know which is the winning one.

How does Highland Park compare to Glenmorangie? Is it something that those two types of drinkers appreciate both?

Cheers.

Stick to what you know he likes I think. Though it might be worth looking at those selection type packs.

Going for a better version of his Glenmorangie sounds like the best plan. I know he's mentioned Glenlivet before, but he never buys it. Is it more expensive or just down to taste...must find out.
