Hi all, I am wondering what graphics card to get. Is the 480 GTX worth getting? Is the 5870 a better choice to go to? Pref looking for some high GPU here. ATI or Nvidia.

Any help will be appreiated!

Thanks!

I got a i7 920 3.8GHZ. Price isn't a problem guys coz I can just save up if need be, wanna get best out of my money ( unless the performance isn't that higher comparing to a lower card )

With that CPU at that speed and price don't matter, I would say either 5850 xfire or 5870 xfire if you just want the best, or 5970 (two 5870 GPUs downclock to 5850 speed) if you want a single card.

What are you looking to do with the card

Games - go for a 5850

CUDA based - Nvidia GTX 285 or better

My 5770 1gb can play Metro 2033 on High settings with DX11 enabled at 1920x1200. Only other thing taken down is AF from x16 to x4, so i would say 5850/70 would easily be able to manage anything in todays standards and this is coupled with a 170 opty clocked at 2.7ghz.

lets be honest size does not matter here - its the native resolution of the monitor - my sceen is 22" and is 1080p

you know what the 47" I have here is also 1080p... funny that

get a 5850 - a 5970 is not good value for money my whole rig costs the price of that card and I can still play the same games you all do.

5850 and overclock it or if u want exetreme performance for low price get two 5850s and crossfire X them and you'll see 5970 speeds.
