Asus M4A79XTD Evo

Okay so i got Asus M4A79XTD Evo when i upgraded to am3. more so for the ddr3 support then anything else. but now im running ATI graphics with a nvidia for phyx its running both at 8x. what isnt really acceptable..

Any idea's of a upgrade? gotta support 1600mhz ram as standard... thx

looks like you will need a 790fx chipset board.These support two full 16x speed pci-e slots.

Why the 1666mhz ram support.

The ram will work at slower speeds too 1333, 1066mhz.

Unless you have altered the bios settings then it wont be running at 1666mhz.

For two 16x support buy the crosshair asus board.

what cards you using?
16x isnt the be all and end all.
with the pcie 2.0/2.1 most cards get more than enought bandwidth from 8x (iirc, a 5870 only takes a 5% performance hit from 8x instead of 16x)

5850 clocked at 840/1170 at the moment and 9800gtx+ for phyx

And my board runs 1600mhz ram out of the box. most u gotta overclock. and its annoying.

8x8 if fine for gaming upgrading to a 16x16 for this reason only is complete waste of your money...however it is that...your money

Might upgrade in time once i get the cash for a second 5850.. might drop the phyx or might keep it.. not sure atm..
