Hi, what is a good graphics card?

5850 and overclock it or if u want exetreme performance for low price get two 5850s and crossfire X them and you'll see 5970 speeds.

well u might aswell get a 5970 for the same price surely... rather than 2 5850's as then in the future u could mabey look at another 5970

So I the 5890 is the best thing to go for? All I want is a GPU ( I dunno how to overclock GPU'S and wont risk trying lol) that can play games on highest on a good FPS.

My CPU is intel i7 920 3.8ghz?

6GIG DDR3 1600MHz

Moniter i'm on 1920x1200

I dunno whether to get a 480GTX... I want a single GPU, so, my last card was 295 GTX and it sucked. It was bugy on most games... Would a 480 GTX be a big improvment from a 295? Or should I wait longer for more to come out?

I'm thinking of going for the 5870 Vapor-X. Does that use less power than the 295??

What would a 5870 Vapor X be like? And is diff between Vapor X?

If you aren't overclocking or doing a mild overclock then it's best choice for you.

I got one myself so do others on this forum, idling 35c, gaming 50-60c, only seen it hit near 65c a few times when my room has been very very hot. It's also incredibly quiet.

Plays any game maxed 1920x1200, Crysis very high all with 4xaa, Metro 2033 is the only game it can't completely max due to depth of field/tessellation in the game not being fully optimised for current drivers it seems.(never the less if you take both off and play in DX11 you can't see the difference really and gain about 20-30fps with both off.)

I am really impressed with my card's performance/cooling and ATI drivers/control panel.

Also the Vapor-X uses even less power than my GTX275 did, it's about 380w max draw of a whole system with an i7 at 4ghz.

Well i was going to go for a 480, the temps/noise/power consuming put me right off....mainly the noise it sounds like a damn blow dryer on steroids near you. Also with the vapor you can go crossfire without worrying about your temps rising much if at all with performance that's really incredible.(i am getting a 2nd soon!)

One more thing too is that the 480 is in short supply currently so if you eagerly want a new card then go for it i am pretty sure you will be happy with it.(just remember not to use driver cleaner, just uninstall Nvidia drivers via control panel add/remove programme list then put new card in and install ATI drivers from their site.)

Hmmm thats true... Hard choice, never had ati aswel, but wanna give em a go^^ I heard a lot of good things about the 5870 aswel. Hmmm

I have a 295GTX now, would a Vapor-X 5870 be ok for my PSU? It's 650 W Cosair or 640 somthing like that.

I've never had an ATI card before this, only have owned 3 gfx cards, one was a Voodoo even hahaha but i can tell you i am more happy with this than my two previously owned Nvidia cards.

Yes that psu is more than fine, i am using Corsair 650w with i7 at 3.4ghz, even at 4ghz with Vapor at 900/1300 you would be fine.By the way it's only about 0.5 inches longer than your GTX295 and power connectors may be on end of your card but easy to install anyway.

Ok, well, I think i'm gonna buy the 5870 :) The Vapor-X one. You think that can play Crysis, Battlfield Bad Company2 highest settings with good fps?

I get about 60-90fps in BFBC2 depending on where i am of course at 1920x1200, 4xMSAA, 16xAF, DX11, HBAO ON and field of view at 75.(it only slows down to like 30-40fps if there's huge explosions happening which would happen with any card yet still playable.)

Crysis is about 30-40fps at 1920x1200, 4xMSAA, very high all and very much playable.

Pretty sure if i had my cpu at 4ghz the fps would be about 10-20% higher on those.

Falconik if it was my choice again I'd go for the Asus one so I could overclock it more :)

The Vapor-X is great but it's got lower graded voltage regulators and they don't let you adjust the Voltage :(

If you're Happy enough being limited to 900 core then look no further than the Vapor-X but if you want a bit more then Asus is the way to go :)

Oh and you'll be fine on a 650w PSU, that's what I've got :)

He said he doesn't want to overclock i think so the Vapor be best choice though if you want to overclock yeah i say Asus too for sure.

Yes of course you'll play Crysis good if your cpu is clocked even higher than mine.:p

Off to play Stalker Clear Sky, have fun with whatever you pick.:)
