where do spam messenger contacts come from

i use it to keep in touch with family but over the last month i must have had 1000+ fakes trying to ad me to dupe me into visiting their sites lol.

where are they getting my e-mail address from i've had my same e-mail addy for about 8 years it's getting pretty annoying blocking about 30 people a day when i sign in

P:S this has only started happening recently and i don't give out this e-mail address to any site i beleive to be dodgy for that i use a spam and newsletter subscription e-mail addy
 
ah lol i didn't mean it like that i mean where do they come from in the sense do they come from 1 site/server somewhere are they done automatic or manually and is there any way to stop them now they are coming through
 
I have never had issues witrh people spamming my MSN address, nor people adding me randomly. I've had my email address since about 2005 as well.

Do you guys just sign up for free porn all the time? That's probably where most of it comes from.

PS I can tell you where the decent stuff is for free that doesn't require an email address ;)

i'm clean as a whistle my wife takes care of all my perverted needs lol

i'm thinking maybe a legit company has sold on my details or something.

it's very annoying tho
 
I've had my hotmail address since it was HoTMaiL. It's been round the block more than Jordan. Unwanted spam adds are inevitable.

The same thing is happening to me and i'd like it to stop as well. It started a couple of months ago and i get a couple every day now.
 
when i visit yahoo e-mail I usually have 5-6 people trying to contact me despite my status as being invisible.

Clearly there is a hack for yahoo messanger that allows people to bypass the settings I've written to yahoo about this without reply :(
 
Well I never had any up until about a month ago, and I've had my MSN email for 5+ years now. I'm not sure where they came from though, because I only ever use my real email for things I know aren't dodgy, and I don't think I'd actually signed up to anything when I started getting spam.

The best part is the spam is all about my WoW account getting hacked... when I don't even have one. Fortunately everything gets caught by the filter, so it's not that annoying.

I've not had any bots trying to instant message me though, thank god, I can see how that would be very annoying.
 
I had it start about a month back, loads of random contact adds, very odd. If it's down to something I signed up for it was a loooong time ago as i've not used that address for anything other than MSN for a long time.
 
They're pretty funny. One keeps adding me and saying

Hi I'm naked at <URL>

I've told them to **** off many times. No idea whether I'm talking to a bot though....
 
Has no one got fake emails, fake details to companies anymore, like another alias. Anyway, I've not really had trouble with fake emails. I get virtually no spam, maybe 1 message per 4 days.
