Polish president Lech Kaczynski killed in plane crash

Man, Ryszard Kaczorowski (last president in exile) who was onboard was in Dunstable many years ago. My mum and her sister served him dinner at the Priests house in our local Polish church.

Let me get this straight, you'd prefer that citizens of our country as well as many others lost their lives rather than those who'd signed up and are willing to do so if it means protecting those back home and those in Afghanistan both from the terrorist organisations and from joining said organisations?

I hope you realize our current actions in Afghanistan and Iraq are fuelling terrorist motives, instead of doing the opposite?

You're lapping up the official line on the wars like a thirsty dog - on a thread with a completely different topic to boot. Fool on you mate.

What could possibly make you think that? Are you a conspiracy theorist? Doing nothing at all is bound to lead to a worse situation than what's going on now. And yes, since we're in Afghanistan that makes us a target, but somebody has to sort it out. It's disgraceful that it had to be us, but it did have to be done. Leaving now would just let them get a chance to launch terrorist attacks against us, if we hadn't gone in the first place then maybe we would be less of a target but that still doesn't negate the fact that leaving now would cost more civilian lives and would probably force us to go back at some point in the future.

I wasn't the one that lead the topic astray. ;)

Let's not turn this into an Iraqi/Afghan debate when the thread has nothing to do with it. I'm fighting the strongest urge to post my opinion on the war, but am refraining for the sake of the continuation of an interesting thread.

9/11, USS Cole, Embassy bombings and the 1993 WTC bombing all took place before "our current actions"

You need to find a different way to be an apologist for those.

Cool, none of which affected the UK, whereas our first bombing by Islamic Terrorists was in 2005, directly attributed to the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq...

I guess the 67 British victims of 9/11 didn't effect the UK? Go find the rock you came from under.

Oh i'm sorry, upset you? (if one of the dead was someone you know then really sorry).

That was still aimed at America, the Brits died due to there being in the building, they weren't aimed at purpously. That's a bit like saying any foreign people that died in 2005 were targeted specifically.

67 Dead due to essentially bad luck does not mean we invade another country and kill tens of thousands...

No, but nearly 3000 dead human beings should be justification enough to eliminate the source of them. Not to mention the fact that those living in this country have a very hard life and if you change that then they would be less inclined to join these extremist groups themselves.

Why are you so bothered about which country they came from? What difference does it make?
