Is it a good idea for ocuk to have an ebay account?

Or they could let people buy from the website they spent a lot of time and money developing using tried and trusted methods :/

there is no denying a lot of people use ebay.

aand..what are they using it for? and how does that compare with how people use OcUK? Is it really worth their time to advertise there when they have a brilliant website, service and consumer base here?

Hate ebay. I don't think they should have traders on there at all, ruins the idea of the site for me, and 99% of it is total rubbish from hong kong or similar with obscene postage charges. I always search for private sales tbh. If I want something online from a large store, I go to their main shop.

No way. Ebay is now a giant Hong Kong flea market. The relatively few genuine auctions are drowned out in a sea of cheap tat. That and the fact it's a playground for scammers - I've heard so many horror stories of paypal siding with scamming buyers every time, I'm genuinely scared to sell certain stuff on there anymore. Too bad my post count seems to be rising so slow I'll never get in the MM :( - guess I shouldn't post in gfx forum threads that end up as fanboy slanging matches and get deleted taking my posts with them:)

Maybe make the site look better instead? or fix the google crome bug? lol

What bug? I'm on google chrome and rarely have any problems.

Are you talking about the one where the page freezes sometimes and won't let you click on anything?

Come to think of it, that has been happening in the last couple of weeks...

i also think ebay should be personal.
i hate looking for something, having to trawl through 3 pages that some idiot has spammed with exactly the same item over and over again.

You have to admit though that you can get a really good bargain on Ebay. I have had two over the past few weeks. I got a brand new Gigabyte EP43-UD3L v1.2 for £35 still sealed in it's box. That is now in my second rig and performing faultlessly. They are £69 on here. Last week i got a brand new XFX 4650 512mb for £25, also still sealed in it's box. They are £46 on here. That is also running in my second rig faultlessly.

Regards to the OCUK bit. They could sell the B-grade stuff on there and with a proper description of what people will actually recieve instead of the pot luck they have at the moment.

Yep E-bay sucks ass!, I just sold 2 processors and a 4870 on there, and after paypal fees and then e-bays 10% final valuation and then the listing fee's and then P&P I lost a total of about £50, so the products went for what I was happy with and was there market value. The buyers were happy cos they got a bargain, all I got was out of pocket!!

Needless to say I won't be doing that again anytime soon. ***$ E-Bay..

Oh and to answer the question, No OCUK should not get an E-bay shop, being who they are and the service level they provide makes them stand out from the crowd.

So to counter the Ebay fees you want OcUk to increase the price of items on they would potentially sell on Ebay? Lets think this through

I want to buy something from OcUk

Its £100 on the site.
To counter ebay fees etc they increase by 10% so it's £110 on Ebay.

I know where I'm getting it from thanks.

Pointless idea.
Although they could look into accepting paypal? But then again this has fees.
