Have been considering an i5 upgrade for a few months now - gradually getting up to speed on hardware, thinking about what to get, and making moves to sell some stuff to help with funds. Was considering a pre-overclocked OCUK bundle plus a mix of new and second hand parts to build up the system.

Well I couldn't help myself - just one a whole rig on ebay...

i5 750
Gigabyte UD5
4GB Corsair 1600MHz ram
corsair H50-1 water cooler
(exactly the contents of the OCUK bundle I was considering before they recently changed the mobo to an Asus)
5850
800W 'evolabs' PSU
Wierd looking Lexa case that will probably be swapped
250GB samsung HDD
Optical
Keyb/mouse
Wharfedale speakers

Allegedly all only a few months old, built for over a £1000 (sounds believable). Won it for £620.

So, bargain? I'm happy, but at the same time apprehensive - never spent that much on ebay - hope it all works! Only thing I'm worried about is the 'evolabs' PSU. Never heard of 'em - anyone know if they're any good or if it wants swapping to be safe. It should at least be un-stressed with 800W powering this rig.

What you reckon, folks? :)

I reckon a Casio calculator will arrive circa 1982, Enjoy. :D

Should've gone to Overclockers & Spec savers by the looks of it.

Nar you'll be fine it's a Flying machine.

I hope you used somebody elses credit card.

Wow you're my Hero.

Pick One of the above & use repeatedly. :D

Lol - haven't used anyone's credit card yet. Think I'll go and pick it up and ask to see it running.

Hopefully all's good, then with the help of the guys here, I can get that i5 to 4GHz myself as it would be if I'd gone for the OCUK bundle with the same parts. Should be doable :). Then again maybe the 3.2 he currently has it running at is the most he can get out of it :(

Dear OCUK - very sorry, my finger slipped on the bid button. Promise I'll replace the case, PSU and buy a 24" monitor from your shop :)

Looks good mate....would recommend going and picking up to check its actually a i5 etc and also if possible run a quick test to check its all stable etc.

Agreed with what everyone has said, looks a cracking rig, picking it up is a must.
Never heard of that brand of PSU so might be an idea popping into OCUK :D

Nice rig, check the CPU though as some have already said.
The last thing I bought off ebay was a cm-64 (30 quid). It sits on top of the mt-32 and under the sc-88 :D
Bonus points if you know what they are without resorting to google (though it will show your age).

Sounds good to me, especially with the 5850 prices still high. Don't forget the photos!

I see it comes with Windows 7 x64 ultimate  wonder if that's genuine?

Doubt it! I asked, and CD/DVD isn't coming with the rig so it's either a naughty copy or he just wants to retain the disks/license for himself. Still at least it's there for now so I can use and spring for my own disks when I feel like a fresh reinstall.

Will be reporting back with photos etc.

Then the overclocking attempts will begin :)

Use this program to check the CPU.

You should probably also check that the Windows 7 install is genuine and you have the product key should you need to reinstall.

I would suggest upgrading the PSU (current one sounds like a disaster waiting to happen) and the HDD if you have the money (or possibly SSD if you want to push the boat out).

Also, a bit of cable management wouldn't go amiss.

What he said would be advised XD.

Nice system, but I would like other mentioned change the PSU to something better, like a Corsair :)
