I'll give FOV a try at 90 tonight and see if that helps my motion sickness any more. Other then that, I need a way to turn off the slight bob..

I swear I shoot blanks - the number of times I'd emptied a clip into someones groin for them to just shoot me in a few shots. I suppose I need to level up a bit first, but it's hard work when I'm sat in a shrub and someone grenades you from the other side of the planet.

Another thing that might be worth trying is switching to windowed mode. It helps me sometimes.

Did you do the input modifications to get rid of the mouse lag? This also helps my general sickness feelings...

definitely a harder game when u r a lower rank, getting the red dot sight with any gun gives u a huge advantage over someone with iron sights imo. When u r lower rank i think it definitely makes sense to play hardcore rather than normal mode as the magnum ammo and body armour ur coming up against with the rank 15+ dont mean as much.

Though HC is potentially more frustrating as you can end up dying more with no idea where your opponent is. Depends on your play style, I guess :)

Another important tip is to pick up other people's kits. Don't worry if they're engineer/medic/whatever...chances are, the stuff is better than yours if you're very low rank.

Uh I turned off Mouse Acceleration if thats what you mean?

I'll give windowed mode a go.

Anyone noticed the way people play this game has changed?

As people have played and ranked up the game has turned into a 40mm/Gustav spam, swear not many bullets get fired any more.

Seeing people with 9 stars on the Gustav etc.

Shame really....

Well there is that, but i think there are way more medics running around than assault/engineer.

I find most pub servers to be quite varied.

That's the fix, yeah.

PRoCon support was the main reason to be honest. I re-setup an old version of PRoCon but it didn't work perfectly.

If it's still problematic tonight I'll go back to R8 again :)

as soon as R10 is out we are moving to Wolfs Wolfcon rcon programme, loads of features and things to play with.

he's just working on a daemon atm, I chat to him a fair bit in irc and he's very open to suggestions and improvements :)

im not sure if anyones said this but you need to lead, both to compensate for the amount of time the bullet takes to get to the person and for lag. the other thing is its important to go for the head (lots of noobs with body armour going around).
also close ranges go for the pistol. does a shed load of damage if you can hit people with it.

i just wish people knew how to play their classes instead of going for kd. soo many medics who dont drop kits or packs, same with assault and recon. seriously its not that hard, if the sheet is hitting the fan drop a pack of water you have, throw a motion mine, then sit down and ghet involved! free points!
also any medic who doesnt revive should be shot for being an m60 whore!

ps picked up the m60 yesterday tro bring a buddy back to life... jesus id forgotten what a joke it is. more powerful then all the other lmgs. more powerful then the assault rifles! i ended up getting about 8 kills before i died

Good games to those who were there for the little skirmish just now. I have to say you don't half feel like the whipping boy at rank zero. I was running around, perfectly happy with my little peashooter that is standard issue for the engineer, killed an enemy engy by throwing rocks at him (more effective than the gun), picked up his kit and got given some uber rifle of death, churned out at least 6 kills before i died.

Good fun, though as with any shooter i feel the fun is drained out of it slightly by snipers that just camp and take potshots. I yearn for the day that a dev finally has the guts to just remove sniper rifles from this sort of game!

nah i think snipers have a role in this. to keep the opposing teams heads down! and ofc for motion mines, shotguns and c4. the problem is when your own team doesnt have a counter sniper squad. or when a whole team is sniping instead of taking objectives. they need to mega buff the winning pin to get people to ignore their kds and push forward to win.

I agree that a recon unit of sorts is required, many of their weapons and skills are both useful and fun. With that said i just detest sniper rifles, especially in open games like this. Yes they have their use; making people keep their heads down, but that doesn't mean it's fun. Getting pot-shotted from across the map several times in a row (and no, it's not because i was playing stupidly, it was purely because a m-com station was about to detonate and i was desperately trying to disarm it) just isn't fun.

Sniper rifles only ever detract from the enjoyment of those not using them. There is no fun to be had in being killed by an unseen opponent.

Just imagine this game if there were no long range weapons, a game where everyone would have to muck-in and get stuck into the close range firefights anhd constantly battle for the objective. Sounds fun, no?

sometimes its worth taking the smoke attachment, smoke up the mcom then disarm, i notice its very little used, i was on tfu late last night, we were being held of arming so i got the smoke, whacked it around the mcom and armed it, second mcom the same, unfortunalty as i armed it we ran out of tickets, but it was good fun:)

Oh trust me, when i figure out which class has the smoke grenade and how to unlock it if i need to i'll be using it all the time. As i said in my previous post i'm not even rank 1 yet, the game this morning was my first game :D

it's under assualt class mate, unlimited ammo aswell, it's one area im low on points on but im starting to play it more as the guns are better than engineer

I have the smoke grenade but have yet to use it, is it really that effective? Does it hide spotted team mates on the radar for example?

Would be good for setting the bomb then smoking the joint then having a recon guy mortar it at the same time!

definitley mate. i use it quite a lot too, ansolutley fantastic for covering your approach, just annoying that people dont wanna loose the tube, but i can understand it, the tube is the only way to keep up with gustavs and m60s (unless youre liek me and tend to shoot first tube later).
again people just need to learn to play the game to win instead of protecting their kds.
why i really wanna get some realy team games outa ocuk, were everyones organised and youve got some sensible squads going on.

my ideal squad is 2 assaults. whatever weapon, but one with smoke one with tube.
2 medics. one main so whatever weapons suits you (xm8 in my case) and both health pack upgrades) and one as backup so m60 prob with damage upgrades.
1 sniper for most occasions (for motion mines and taking out the ubiquitous **** on a machine gun or sniping from miles away)/1 engineer if theres lots of vehicles (maybe swap an assault for an engine so you can have an engineer to distratc tanks with rpg and recon to sneak and plant c4 on him)

plus id have a sniper squad playing lone wolf at the edges of the map to bomb objectives and snipe other snipers.

any other ideas? just wish people played this game more tactically itd be amazing
