Hm, that's quite a dedicated effort to keep Fermi cool ;)

Sounds like a killer setup though :)

Indeed it is. Well whats a Nvidia fan boy to do?

They are retail prices. From a store I have bought from and had RMA experience before. Not as much as anywhere i buy from regularly though. Googling for them etc revealed only good things pretty much. Also I didnt buy until I had been speaking to them about it, on a bank holiday wkend..was well impressed they were working then.

Still, worst case, EVGA have a good warrenty, although I lose it as soon as I stick on the blocks ofc.

No you wont. EVGA allow you to remove the cooler as long as you send back the card with the original cooler in place and dont mod the pcb. Have a look on their site under warranty and it confirms this. :)

That's not the point, the cards were officially released yesterday and so this thread is perfectly warranted.

Not having a pop, its just these cards are so delayed and no one has anything to show in this thread in terms of pic's, benchmarks and user experiance.

IMO its a massive shame as I would love to read more user feed back on these cards.

People have already started getting these cards since yesterday ....

From a competitor site in the USA :).

Its not actually delayed, a competitor site in Sweden also had them in stock yesterday. Availability is just really really low.

Isnt that only in the US, and not the EU?

I thought it was everywhere mate. Its one reason allot of people who watercool go for EVGA cards. I would have done the same if they had volt modding. It seems a waste not being able to volt mod a watercooled card. :)

http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/

# There is no physical damage to the PCB, GPU/chipset, or components that are caused by: Damage due to improper installation, damage during modification of any kind, damage during any type of aftermarket cooling installation, and water damage of any kind.
# The product is returned to EVGA in the original factory configuration and condition. All aftermarket modification must be reversed before sending in the product for replacement.

That EVGA warranty is brilliant, I must say that.

Makes it worth buying one of these on EVGA if you are into modifying, the cost would be the only obstacle. Slap on a Prolimatech MK-13 though and these cards will be fine.

I wish EVGA did ATI cards, 100% going with them if I go Nvidia again, top class support and they are real enthusiasts.

Raven, when we get the first actual post from a GTX480 owner I suggest you edit your first post and tell people where to actually start reading from :)

Certainly will, good idea.

The problem you are set to find is, theres dozens of cards, most had been pre-ordered, jsut because they are available as ordered by request, and just because their distributor "LISTS" them, doesn't mean the distributor will actually receive them.

Its pretty clear now that even from the single most Nvidia biased site on the net, Fudzilla, that everything he heres from Nvidia partners is massive orders in terms of numbers, and no delivery. Nvidia have simply been taking orders for numbers they can't come close to delivering. They are also certainly not in full production now, which sucks for everyone.

The fact the second batch, after a tiny first one is in May, and the suggestion partners are hearing the next batch will be probably, September or 6xxx series time, means it isn't in constant production, otherwise you'd get a batch every week from 2 months after production started, which should have been 3 months ago now.

WE can only hope, stock wise and availability wise that a "460gtx" with 3 or 4 clusters disabled might get out in not ridiculous numbers........ maybe, in a month or two. Though its going to be slower than a 5850, and would really need to be £180 or a bit less to be a worthwhile alternative, but they could have a decent overclocking headroom.

THe x800xt pe, was never a volume part, and was never meant to be, it was like the 8800 ultra, 7900gtx 512, it was a special low volume part, the x800xl/xt were massively available straight away. The x800xt pe, is the equivilent of a 512sp 485gtx with higher clocks.

From fud:

"Yesterday in the morning we reported that Fermi, Geforce GTX 480 and 470 cards were not available at all, and later in the day we got some evidence that a few cards did get to e-tail stores and that most of them sold very quickly.

We talked to a few partners and we learned that most of them got four times less than they pre-sold to distributors and retailers. Since most shops allowed pre-orders for these cards, whatever comes in, has already been sold.

The second batch comes in May, but we are not sure that it will be enough to solve the shortage issue. By the time third batch arrives, ATI might have its 6000 ready or it will be close.

Luckily Nvidia should have its GF104 mainstream card by summer time. "

yea i was on the site, looking at the EU version. Looks to have changed since I bought my 295's, as then, they specifically didn't cover in the EU and is why i went with zotac. Glad they've changed it though.

Nvidia launched the cards 12 months early and production ramping only started this month.

Nvidia are getting *extreamly low yeilds* and they said it would be late this year before they expected to see mass availability.

To make things worst the cards seem to be utter rubbish anyway :p

Compared to that EVGA warranty and several others, my Sapphire one really really sucks :x

You can probably tell that I dont like Sapphire too much now, no more voltage tweaking, no support for overclocking or modding.

I wish that Gigabyte offered voltage tweak too, their warranty was really good like EVGAs, they told me I could modify my cards without losing warranty, as long as they were sent back as they came with no damage.

Fud say that by the time the 3rd batch of Fermi's are out the 6000 series will be close to launching. How can this be if we havent even had the refreshes of the 5000 series yet.

So basically you're saying that we may not see any free stock of fermi maybe for months, if at all...

The 6000 series are basically going to be a refresh of sorts of the 5 series.

It'll use the same shaders from the 5 series, but with all the uncore stuff from Northern Islands.

They are planning to release a 40 nm range using the northern islands features as 32 nm was axed and it will be a long time before we get 28 nm cards.

I think its a good idea for anyone that doesnt already have DX11 cards to wait for those, and for people who do to skip them and wait for the 28nm ones next year.
