Just a quick rant here, since I work from home and have nobody to rant to. I just parked in a very full NHS car park after 40 mins of trying to find a space and the car next to me was a fiesta that was wedged into an out of commision space that was very tight but doable. I gave absolutely as much space as I could to it.

As I came back to my car with the pay and display ticket the guy was getting in the fiesta and I asked if he had room to get out? (just to be polite) He said yes, no problem mate. Came back to my car shortly afterwards to find he has scratched my bumper quite badly. No note.

Given that the scratch is probably worth more than his car i can understand why he legged it, but still, what a ****.

Scratched as in with a key or scuffed with his car ( I assume the last) ?

How bad is it, it might be polished till it's gone or barely visible.

with his car, it is a scrape. Should I try and polish myself? If so with what? Very noob question for a 35 year old but I've always driven trucks before and looking well used was part of their appeal!

I just used a regular scratch remover on mine and hand polished it, it's still visible slightly but only from a couple of inches... If it's deeper but still not down to the primer yet you can wet sand it with fine 2000 sandpaper and then polish up the whole duff spot, might take a while by hand though...

Why didn't you stay and watch? Or note his reg?

Yes it's his fault, but you weren't exactly careful.

Ok, thanks for that. Because I needed to take my wife to an obstetrics appointment which is frankly more important and because I checked with him he had room and didn't feel the need to breathe down his neck.

Most men presumably are able to judge whether their car will fit in a given space, had it been a woman, perhaps i would not have taken his word for it ;)

Dont worry mate, give the hospital a ring im sure they have plenty of CCTV in the car park. Get the guys reg number and get it contact with the police quoting the reg number.

Had same happen to me. Came out of Asda to find a nice dent in the passenger side of the Galaxy along with the remains of some chumps rear light cluster. CCTV didn't cover that part of the car park clearly enough to take it any further. Not a happy bunny.
