VW Tiguan,

ok it's on a lease scheme from work so it will be shiny and new and has a 3 month lead time!

now i know a lot of you guys are against the soft-roader option, at the minute it's just the wife and i.

i had to get rid of my Y plate Seat toledo as it was falling to pieces literally, i tapped on the back of it and the foglight surround fell off the front!

we've had the 170 bhp TDI SE with some extras..... it's a world away from the SEAT in fit and finish.

whilst were waiting for it to be built we've been given an Audi a3 1.6TDI. it's a gutless wonder but will do until the Tiguan's ready.

just thought i'd share and open the flood gates for all you Chelsea tractor haters!

I wanted something that was a bit different and hadn't seen many,

i think my wife is having a thing with Henry Ford she goes on about how good Fords are so often so i wanted to get her out of the Focus.

hopefully starting a family soon so i wanted something safe

also compared with the other cars on the lease scheme they appeared to be good value for money (same per month as a 2.0 tdci focus estate titanium)

strangely has a smaller boot that my toledo according to parkers but has ample space.

the tiguan glides over the potholes of stoke on trent and i have no doubt will handle the un-tarmaced tracks i go up in cumbria

my toledo used to sound like it fell into pot holes and tried do gouge it's way out!

thank you, i have to admit i thought i was going to get flamed for it.... wanted to get it out of the way before it arrives lol

Does anyone else have a strong urge to elongate the 'guaaaan' bit of VW Tiguan when saying it?

OP - do you do much off road driving, or did you literally just fancy something a bit higher / bigger?

the most off-roading i do is up a farm track to where my parents live in cumbria,

took the audi there last week and had to call out the RAC as i got a stone stuck behind the break disk! (yes i could have fixed it but it's a lease car and had less than 600 miles on the clock)

i have to admit i do like the elevated driving position and the road presence.

edit: i pronounce it to rhyme with "big one" said quickly

Where I live/drive (Holyport/Bray/Maidenhead) the roads are so terrible that I'm finally starting to see the point of "soft roaders" now. I doubt I'd buy one myself but I think I can see why people would.

i have no illusions that it is a true off roader, you don't see a defender 90 with the option to reverse parallel park itself!

still it's a cool feature!

Why shouldn't he choose it?

Whats wrong with asking somebody why they picked a car on a car discussion forum

What else are we supposed to say?

i think my wife is having a thing with Henry Ford she goes on about how good Fords are so often so i wanted to get her out of the Focus.

So because your wife liked Fords, you wanted to... get her something else?

We've had 2 fords and I'm bored of them. My wifes whole family have them!

Not as fast I would have liked but I have to be practical. For now

Just over £400 a month. 3 years 10k a year. Everything included except fuel. Option to buy at the end.

To go on a finance plan from vw on an identical speck car is £500 a month. I'd have to pay insurance tyres etc with that too so I think it's a good deal to be honest.
