I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but hey :p

Even though I personally thought a HD5770 is good enough for gaming, and that a 5970 is over priced
and not really needed, they release a 4Gb version. Heres is some of the article from Tweaktown as they test
one of the four models made, and here are a few of their results.

From tweaktown.com

The GPU itself.

Some benchmarks.

This card doe's look quite a beast, and wouldn't mind seeing what it doe's on Crysis, but I would still expect atleast
an £800 price tag.
The the full article if you want to see more :)

Those are some pretty unfair benches as well, as the 480 is a single GPU and the 5970 is a double. A fairer comparison would be 480 vs 295 vs 5870 vs 5970-4gb.

Couldn't understand why the memory was making such a diff at soem of those games/resolutions - until I looked on the article to see it is clocked at 900MHz, which is quite a bit higher than the 725 of the 2GB version.

the 5870 1 and 2gb dont make any difference even in triple eyefinity resolution (5760x1080 or so), so i dont see how is this making such difference either

Imaging 3 of them LOL 12 gig of video memory. You would never have to worry about video memory being an issue for a long time. 3 of them would see you through DX11.

1) The memory doesn't double or triple, I believe it's mirrored across all the GPU's.

2) AFAIK, gaming drivers don't support 6 GPU's, so that's a no go

3) You'd need a case with 9 PCI-E brackets and a motherboard with 3 PCI-E x16 spaced 3 slots apart, which doesn't exist, I don't think.

£600-£700, around $1000 for the special OC'ed 4 Gb models.

I'm dreaming of an Asus Ares to go with my R3E :(.

Ooooh, even an Asus Ares plus a ROG edition 2 Gb 5870, that would be soooooooo sweeeeeet to play with :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(.
