earliest game that got you hooked?

First Comuter game that really got me hooked? - Lords of Midnight on the ZX Spectrum.

Following that - Dungeon Master on the Atari ST.

Then F/A-18 Interceptor on the Amiga :)

Doom on the PC.

For me it was Chuckie Egg on the BBC B that really got me hooked.

On the PC it was probably HHGTTG or one of the other Infocom games.

Lots of games i played loads, the 1st i would say i was 'hooked' on was tetris on the gameboy despite that i played great games like Privateer 2 the Darkening on PC. I would not say hooked unless i racked up over 200 hours on a game at least. but on PC 1st game i would say i was truly hooked on was CS. I have also been hooked on WOW, civ4, planetarion (web based mmo) and now mw2 probably makes the hooked definition with over 300 hours played.

But CS was probably the 1st PC game i would say i was Hooked on.

Marathon on my old Mac.

That was the game the spawned Halo

ahh, that brings back memories.. i had the sequel (marathon 2: durandal) and gave me the willies when i was 6 and probably still would. though, i wouldn't say i was hooked on it - too scary for me haha..

first game i was hooked on was probably warioland or warcraft 2 on internet cafe lan circa 1997

Going back to the commodore and zx days, time bandits, football manager, beach head, who dares wins, microprose soccer.

Then first proper PC game was the first champ manager game.

On PC, Doom. I was was only 8/9 though. My parents rocked :D

Age of Empires 2 was a seriously time consuming game. As was Red Alert (with Counterstrike and Aftermath) and Star Trek Armada.

On consoles: Mario! Obviously.

Hover! on Windows 95 i think it was.

Edit: Actually i completely forgot about the consoles. Would have been Sonic 2 on the MegaDrive.

Defender Of the Crown on the Amiga, couldn't get enough of it.

I made the age old mistake of getting the pc compatible freeware version from Cinemaware's website recently, let's just say the rose-tinted glasses have been shattered :(

Elite on the BBC Micro, and 747 Flight Simulator, also on the BBC Micro. Lol at 3 hours to load it from tape though.

On PC: Transport Tycoon, Wolf3D and Doom series. For multiplayer Quake got me going, then CS really pulled me in. Rise of The Triads was in there somewhere with Doom, too.
