Google Maps fail

Definately something up with it because if you go to street view - half way up the road past the m4 (to Welford) the same car is in nearly every shot (if you keep oving towards Welford - which would mean it's reversing the whole way up)

The google car is driving ahead of the car on it's away AWAY from Welford

My ninja edit got in there before you...:p

(I really did only think about that after typing it though - and wondered why I thought the google car was driving towards the pictured car) What a muppet I am tonight....

I'm thinking maybe the tele atlas maps the google directions are based on, has the road as narrowing or one-way - so it calculates the alternate route based on that (there are numerous signs on the route stating the road narrows)

It's taking a massive detour instead of just going down that normal road between the two?

Missed the top half of the route first time around - sorry about that.

Confirmed that Google thinks the road is one-way. Reverse the route and it takes the obvious road. Set it to walking in either direction and it gets it right. I'm too lazy to go grab my GPS to see if it's a recent change. :p

PS - Bing gets it right.

Interesting.. Didn't realise they would be kept outside. I guess it makes sense to keep them in smaller batches and surround them with a mound of earth, rather than chuck them in a big warehouse waiting for a disaster.

Remember reading an article about a munitions manufacturer a few months back and every building was below ground level, covered with earth and surrounded by earthen walls to absorb/deflect munitions in the event of an accident
