Best Cooler??

Ive been using a Thermalright ultra extreme black on my i7 at 4ghz, very good cooler, the only improvement over it is custom water cooling.

Prolimatech Megahalems is as good as air coolers get. Whack two good fans on it and your temps will be excellent.

What is the best top down CPU cooler out there these days? Need one because my case won't fit a megahelm.

Corsair H50 is good if you dont have much room, but you need a 120mm rear exhaust and it wont give the best temps at 4ghz.

btw wat does it mean when it says (Socket 1366 / 775 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3) on the end of a listing on ocuk...is it compatible with gigabyte motherboard??..intel cpu??? shoud i be worried??

thing about the the top 5 ranking is hw much noise does the Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme Heatsink Review make...if its ranked a 1st on low temps but not low noise??

Look up some videos on Youtube, you tend to get mostly honest opinions and actual... well video ;)

It's because they test at low fan speed and then high speed. The quietest high speed fans will be top 5. Personally I wouldn't take any notice of that as the quiet heatsinks look like they couldn't cool an overclocked CPU very well, there are a couple that do look good. Even the Intel Stock cooler is in the quietest ones! lol. I'd just go for the one with best temperature as you can always change the fan if you really want quietness.

The heatsink only (add your own fans) like guys have been suggestion do look pretty good! Not too sure about that pure copper one, looks pretty heavy but epic lol.

Cooper absorbs heat far better than it releases it, hence the best coolers are copper base aluminium fins.

Ive got the Noctua NH-D14 keeps my chip nice and cool even with a Vcore of 1.5 :) max load is 50-52c with NB and HT link at 2500Mhz with 1.2675 volts. Idles around 30c with the actually sensor but core says 24-27c

Depends what your budget is though. If your looking for a cheaper cooler the Titan Ferir looks pretty decent for the price.
