The Official Football Manager 2010 Thread

If you praise players too often, I find anything less than a month/31 days, they get fed up, say they've heard it before, just want to concentrate on football etc. The ones who like you, like you less and the ones you've just started praising start to dislike you.

Praising too often just causes more problems I find. :p

You can get the bigger names easier. I always praise the big name players for a few months before I try to sign them. Specificially Ronaldo/Messi.

Yup, they get sick of it and if they keep accepting your praise you become a favoured personnel. If you do it too often they just ignore you. I always Praise/Declare interest at the same time, however.

Another MSN contact of mine (yes I do have other MSN contacts! :p) calls the process of praising players you want "bumming" them. :D:o He also says that Messi dislikes him in the beginning but that he keeps on praising him and turns things around. ;)

I think another idea behind regular praising of players you want is to make them add you to their favoured personnel list and in doing so make them want to work with you but also you unsettle them so instead of bidding £20m for someone say the club they're at offer them out at £12m or will accept a bid like that from you because the player is unsettled and wants to leave. :)

You can leave notes can't you on players but having some kind of reminder system that you can add player names to and set the reminder to every 31 days would be muchos :cool:.

Think about it though...this is a football manager simulation game and you want a feature to remind you to "praise" a player every 31 days so you can be added to his favoured persons list and he might sign for you...


Wouldn't it be better to just change this feature so it's more realistic?
 
I'm struggling a bit to get my players achieving high pass completion rates. My highest player is O'Shea, who's 15th in the list, on 84%. My next player is Foster, 37th, on 79%. Any tips on what I can do with players' passing settings to improve matters more?

Chelsea have Cech, Mikel, Alex and Carvalho respectively in the top 11 and Everton, Hull, Birmingham, Stoke, Man City, Villa and Wigan all have a player in the top 10.

Hmm could try that. I set orders for try through balls and creative freedom for my players before each match. Those players who have high creativity get more creative freedom and those with good passing skills get my permission to try through balls. :p Might limit both a bit and see if that has any effect. :)

... is a good bet.

I also try to get my CB's and DM's/MC's training their PPM's to "Holds up ball". Even if they are gash passers, this seems to help them pick a pass and build an attack from the back. It depends on your style of play, of course :)

Quite good, but there are a few players missing.

Like Bentley from the Spurs squad for example.

The interface is simple though and the basic mechanics are there. Don't seem to be able to change player positions mid-game though, and there are no team talks or player exchanges.



Anyone know of any wonderkids or bargains?

The squad thing would **** me right off tbh, I like playing with a large database.

Think I'll hold off until it's a bit cheaper.
 
Might have spend a bit too much money in my first season in the Premiership. :D :D

Everton have got one hell of a youngster...

They got him from Lokern for £450k start of last season and he scored 19 goals in 35 apps.
