What's a song that has strong meaning/significance in your life. Whether it be lyrics or resonating nostalgia/memories.

For me it's The Stranglers - Golden Brown. I played it on my dad's Hi-Fi since my very early days and used to absolutely love it. Perhaps the lyrics aren't too significant though :D In fact their whole best of album has been played so much it's now drilled into my head.

Would be quite interested and I apologise if this thread has been done before.

Faithless - Crazy English Summer. Remembering listening to it on the morning of my birthday on the other side of the world, realising how much I missed the girl I broke up with before leaving. Every line seemed to fit perfectly.

...If you don't know it, it's not what you might normally associate with the famous Faithless tracks :p

Not really what the title asks for.

But two songs I find very powerful...

Ash - Twilight of the Innocents
Placebo - Broken Promise

Puff Daddy and Faith Evans - I'll be missing you.

Cheesy and typical I know, but it does have meaning.

The Blue Nile - The Downtown Lights
Suede - The Next Life
The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset
Black - Here it Comes Again

Oh and forgot - the whole of Bruce Springsteen's Tunnel of Love album.

various leonard cohen songs, mainly 'take this waltz'. and this is mainly because my parents used to play them ALL the time loudly in since i can remember, so its sort of the first music i heard. drilled into my psyche i guess.. oh and bach's toccata and fuge, i have nostalgic early childhood memories of my father playing this full blast whilst wearing a cape (for dramatic effect)after long sunday dinners. looking back on that actually he was quite strange in that way. probably rubbed off on me.

John Denver - Annies Song.

It was both of my granddads favourite song. It was played at both funerals.

Not really sure, would like to say 'Tryin to find a balance' by Atmosphere. First song I heard of them back in 2004 on tony hawks underground 2, and haven't stopped listening to them since. It's not their best song, but in my opinion they're probably one of the best under rated hip hop groups around.

Aphex Twin - Jynweythek
Aphex Twin - Vordhosbn
King Crimson - Epitaph
King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King

Many a happy night spent listening to those.

I'm gonna name three songs, the first two first songs I was into when I had the hots for someone.

I was taking my GCSEs, and it was dawning on me that there were people I saw every day who I may never see again.

There was a girl I liked and my favouite song at the time was Oh Yeah by Ash. Quite cheesy when you think about it. The song goes "Oh yeah she was taking me over, and oh year it was the start of the summer". I never did ask her out.

The other was she will be loved by maroon 5, and I did ask her out. We were engaged but it didn't work out.

The last one is if got would send his angels by U2. Pop was one of the first albums I bought (I got it the same day as my first CD player (an Aiwa)). When I listened to it the track grabbed me and hasn't let go.
