Hi,

I recently got a parking ticket from one of these PPC scammers.

I parked in a parent and child spot in a relatively quite car park (Had 2 dings and someone scrape down my bumper in the last few months) for the little extra space.

Admittedly there was a sign in front of the bay stating only park there if you have a child under 12.

Went for some food with a friend and came out to find said ticket stuck on my window with a reason of, "No children", and asking for £60 within 10 days.

The car park is toll free to park in, so im not quite sure where this £60 fee is being dreamt up from. The car i was in also has two drivers so surely they need to prove who was driving and also that i left and returned to the car without children?

Ive already posted on the pepipoo website and everyones response was to ignore the fine, not make any contact with them, as they can't prove it and are not entitled to anything.

Now ive read a few things on that website and it would seem that its ok to ignore the ticket but i still feel a little uncomfortable doing this.

I just wanted some views on this situation from people on here and if anyone has had experience with these types of companies in the past and the outcome.

I can post the name of the company if thats allowed/anyone wants to know who they are.

Thanks.

Just ignore it as the people over on Pepipoo have advised.

I've been doing it on two tickets for nearly 6 months now, they seem to have given up.

As a parent, it is bloody annoying when people use Parent & Child bays and they have no children. Especially if it means that I then have to cram my car into a space that's too small and perform a Houdini impression in order to extract my 2 year old. Don't do it again! :p

I believe, and I am sure someone will confirm or correct this, that if it isn't a Council ran car park then they have no legal grounds to fine you so you can just ignore it.

I may have completely misunderstood what I've read in previous threads, so don't take that as gospel ;)

I would ignore it unless I was bored then I would have a bit of fun with them with legal arguments

As others have said, ignore it. They cannot prove who entered into a contract with them and you are under no obligation to disclose under the Data Protection Act.

So if you were to ignore it would you expect to hear from them again? I.e. can they request your details from your registration number and pursue you for the fine?

Does the car park have any security camera's that can clearly see you parking in that specific space?

If so, would they not be able to use that evidence to pursue you for the fine?

They can send you letters, but would never be able to prosecute you for it for two reasons; (I believe)

1. They'd have a hard time proving you entered into a contract with them
2. They couldn't justify the fine is relative to the costs incurred by themselves on their client by you parking where you did.

No. They cannot fine you. They can pursue you for an invoice for a contract that they cannot prove you agreed to.

You can ignore the letters or advise them to contact the driver of the vehicle.

Ignore it. I can't imagine them being able to prove you didn't have children if it did get to court.

Around here everyone uses the parent and child parking spaces, they're just bigger spaces on a first come first served basis :D And obviously, as a BMW driver I have a god given right to park wherever I want anyway.

Write '£60 pounds' on a bit of paper with a blue crayon and then draw a nekkid picture of the Queen on the back and send them that.

What about pregnant people using them?

Interesting.

At what point does an infant inside the mother become a human child thus allowing parking in this type of place? This is important to define, as in the early stages of pregnancy it could still be classified as just some cells or thing thus no allowing mother to park in the place leading to a ticket from the nazi :D

OP, ignore them and file all letters in one of the choices below (not in rank order):

1. Dogs mouth.
2. Shredder.
3. Splinter.
3.5 Heros in a half shell.
4. Turtle power.
