MacBook Pro screen -glossy or antiglare?

I went with glossy, simply because I didn't want to pay the extra £120. My pre-Unibody MBP has a matt screen.

I personally think the gloss screens look much clearer and better than the matt screens as long as you're in the correct light conditions.

I used to hate the idea of glossy as its well a mirror on a sunny day, but after i got my unibody macbook pro (it came with a glossy screen) i changed my mind as it looks so nice and i must say i really do love it yes its reflective but o so pretty :-D

If you can get down to an apple store or borrow a friends to see what you like. I was dead set against glossy until I tried it. It's a very personal choice.

If you do any creative work with photos or video then matt every time, same with if you plan on spending a bit of time outside or with a window behind you.

Just watch films/browse the net/general computer stuff inside then glossy is probably fine.

I hate the fact laptop companies insist on sticking glossy screens on almost every laptop now, yes it makes them look nicer but for productivity it stinks.

The matte one is so much more practical, you simply cannot avoid reflectiveness with a glossy screen but a matte one you can use just about anywhere without issue.

I'm really annoyed you have to get the higher resolution to have a matte screen now, it makes things too small for me.

This. Everyone slaps glossy screens on because they look nice in the showroom, something Apple excell at. Not because they're actually better when it comes to using your laptop like a laptop.

Not really, it just looks like a screen and a silver surround....
IIRC the matte surround has a small ridge running around it while the glossy is flush to the edge.

As that link says it kinda does make it look like the glossy surround has just been removed...

Im still deciding between the two myself - anyone got opinions on the higher resolution on the 15" and if it works well on that size (size of icons and everything?)

I went with the absolutely base Core i7 15" model, so got the default screen and it is fine for me. I took it to college today and the room i was using it in was full of windows and the lights were on, the glossy screen did kind of become a problem - HOWEVER, that was because i had the brightness extremely low, i turned it up and it was no longer a problem at all.

I also think it looks better in terms of the bezel, but yeah - if you're constantly using it outside then i'd consider getting the matte screen if i were you, but if not.. then i wouldn't.

Glossy screens just look so much nicer, sharper and bright to me.

It's each to their own though, the reflection can be undeniably annoying.

I have a matte one, aesthetically it's fine and yes the surround basically has been removed. If you don't like the look it's not like you won't get used to it in an hour or so.
In practical terms it's so much better. You do get used to having constant reflections with a glossy screen even in a good position but there are times when you just can't use it and in general you need the brightness a lot higher so your battery life suffers. None of this with matte.

I couldn't use the new 15" in matte as the resolution is too high for me (my vision isn't too good). If your eyesight is fine then you'll probably love it.
