Well I went and did it, dropped the new phone on to the kitchen floor and it's taken a few chunks out of the brown bezel around the screen.....grrrrr thankfully it's not damaged the screen or the rubberised parts towards the bottom/rear..

Not sure what my options are, can you get replacement bezels, or will it need to be sent away to HTC to be fixed?

Any help would be appreciated.

For the sake of £25 isn't it worth claiming on your insurance. If you have it, make use of it?

You can't be sure if there is any other damage, but if you claim, then wouldn't you have a bit of backup if something related went wrong in the future?

a very valid point.

I had thought about just getting a cover and should anything happen to it in future get it fixed then, but then I thought the point of a cover is to protect it so the chances of it getting damaged again would be less, which means I'd be stuck with these chips until I do claim.

When I bought my iphone 3GS they tried to get me to have insurance that was £11.99 a month with a £50 excess. I didn't bother. The salesman was saying "but what if you break your screen? etc" and I said "If I take your insurance and 3 months later smash the screen, I've already paid £86 with the excess so whats the point?" On top of that you have got the hassle of claiming. TBH if I broke my iphone in a way that was going to cost much over £100 (bare in mind I've already saved £74 and counting) I'd probably try and get £250-ish for it on ebay and buy a new phone. Broken iphones go for silly prices on there.

MPDs insurance is pretty good, smashed my touch pro 2 screen twice and had new phones each time.

Both times they told me they were waiting for parts for a repair, and then ended up sending me a new phone both times.

Sounds good, what was the turn around time for these? do they try and get out of it or would they simply fix/replace my desire just because of some cosmetic damage.
