HTC Legend - Any good?

was thinking of getting a Hero but I've seen the HTC Legend for £25pm on O2
is the legend as good/better than the hero or should I avoid?
 
looks like an upgraded version of the Hero to me...with the same ugly styling ie chin on it.

Why not go for the Desire, much better handset all round and is a lovely looking device.
 
The Desire is a better handset in all ways so unless you are getting the Legend substantially cheaper then there is no market for it, and you should not get it.

It is the update to the Hero, with (I think) the same processor but 20% faster clock, Android 2.1, and maybe a few other things that make it better.

seems to have nice reviews and feels sturdy.
is there really that much difference between that and the desire?

I like the chin too, I have a Hero.

The Desire screen is bigger ( 3.7" 480 X 800 vs 3.2" 320 X 480 )
600mhz processor in the Legend, and the Desire has a 1000MHz processor that does more per clock cycle. The Desire is more than twice as fast.
The Desire has 576mb RAM vs 384mb.
Face detection camera on the Desire.

Sim-free the Legend is about £25 cheaper than the Desire which makes the Desire a bargain, or the Legend a rip-off. On contract I don't know what the difference is.
 
I agree with everyone else when they say the Desire is better, but being an engineering student, I have to admit that I find the milled aluminium body pretty damn sexy :D

Yes first of all the Desire uses a 1gz cpu and the Legend uses a 600mhz cpu...the screen on the desire is 3.7" AMOLED whereas the legend is 3.2" AMOLED

Desire comes with 576mb of RAM and legend comes with 384mb of RAM.

All in all the Desire is a much faster and better phone than the legend.
 
The only thing the Legend has going for it is the stylised look, which some people will like. It's not that important to me, but if you look at Apple's products then you see that style and fashion are big sellers.

Style is nice, but substance comes first.
 
Not only does it look good, but because its a uni-body it'll take some punishment

Both have Sense-ified Android 2.1, the legend is far more stylish, the Desire far more powerful, you pays your money you makes your choices :)

I went with a Nexus One because I'm weird like that :P
 
Well having seen them both in a Vodafone shop, the Legend looks nicer but i'm going for the Desire due to the better specs and screen (if it's gotta stay with me for at least 18months then i'll get the faster thing possible!).

A Desire styled more like the Legend would be perfect.

Exactly.

I've been looking for a new phone for a while and whittled it down to the Desire or Legend. The looks and feel of the Legend combined with the guts of the desire would be perfect.

.....but I've decided to go for the Desire. Just need to chose a supplier/tariff now.
 
Something else to consider. Flash 10.1 is coming to Android later this year, but only to devices that are ARM Cortex A8 class or better. The Snapdragon in the Desire qualifies, I think the Legend does not.
 
I really want a Legend, and considered the Hero as a cheaper alternative, but it seems that its barely cheaper at all. Ridiculous, how is it only 30 quid cheaper after a year at market.
 
All in all the Desire is a better device , If you want somthing compact and stlyish then I would go for the legend.
 
looks very nice. i doubt youd miss the 1ghz snapdragon.i cant think of any apps that abuse it yet ? the hero aint exactly laggy or anything
