Cinema Vs Stay at home

Agreed, for big, explodey action films it's hard to beat the cinema.

Dramas and comedies don't benefit nearly as much and the majority are worth waiting for DVD but films like the forthcoming Iron Man 2, I feel, are a must see in the cinema.

I cant belive that people prefer watching a movie on a television to watching it in the cinema. Cinema all the way. When I use my student card and discount voucher I get in for £3.60 at certain times.
 
One upside to watching at home, you can smoke and drink without the risk of being kicked out.

I get student prices and take my own food and drink in.
Ticket £5, selection of snacks and drinks from shop £5. Diesel - pennies. Parking - Free.
Not being constantly interupted by parents or being booted out of the front room at 5 oclock is worth it.

No point in trying to watch a film in my room with another person unless they like spooning on my bed :D

A crappy chair with little room and no privacy, no ability to pause and do something in the meantime, and ''officially'' not being able to take your own food & drink. You can't watch a film any time you want, you can't watch an old film, the screen often has artifacts, surround sound is rubbish if you sit anywhere but the middle, if you sit too close the screen is way too big and can't see the whole picture at all times. There may be annoying people. You have to pay for parking, you have to get your ID out of your wallet (in my situation) to prove you're 16+ or 18+, etc... The list goes on about how ****ty the cinema experience is and how watching a full HD film at home is far superior in every way.

At home : your own couch or lazy comfy chair ( hell you can even get a massage chair), leaning your legs anywhere you find comfy, pausing when you have to take a dump or so, while eating your whole dinner or a massive load of snacks of your choice, you can watch it at any time, be it 10pm or 5 am, you can hold a marathon for 12 hours and have no extra costs, no rubbish commercials pre-film, you can sit as close as you want or as far as you want ALWAYS for the perfect distance from your screen, digital sources with no artifacts on new films, prefect position for surround sound ( the cinema's sound quality is hardly great at all, way too bassy, and the surround effect is quite rubbish), there are no annoying people which moan about anything from your age to while watching the film, you can go even masturbate yourself if you feel the need to any time you like at home, you don't have to pay, either for the film or for the transportation to the cinema or the parking, etcetc.


Yes very dumb, I prefer the sound in my home rather than the cinema sound, and the big screen is hardly excellent quality.

Depends I reckon, if you've got a mega nice setup in your own place with loads of room it works.

If like me you have a £250 telly and a cheap dvd player in your parents front room, it's not gonna work.
 
how far away do you sit from the screen? how far back does the projector need to be?

is the screen eye level or above?

The other day I stayed in and watched a bluray in full 1080p on my 46" screen with 5.1 True HD surround. The costs:

1) Film = Free from my "collection" or £12.99 @ play
2) Food and drink including alcohol = "free" and plentiful
3) 7 people watching including friends in comfort = free
4) Car parking = free
5) Annoyances = none

TOTAL = "free" or whatever you want to call the cost of the film and/or food.
EXPERIENCE = Nice

I go to the cinema a lot but to be honest I don’t know why because I normally hate every other trip. Normally the reason is because of some tards being noises or acting up. I know you can speak to the staff or pimp slap them but it’s the hassle of having to do it when the film is on. I dont like missing film plots :p

Being at home I always enjoy watching a film more regardless of what setup I watch it on. I mean my surround sound and LCD isn’t all singing and dancing but it does the job nicely.

I do think that Cinema's are overpriced I'm quite tall so always pay extra for the premium seats and this also normally means you won’t normally be sat next to some chav and his mate :p. But these are like £9-£12 (depending on the film). Food costs are terrible as well but I normally pay them or take my own stuff lol. The only real reason I still keep going is because I still go with a group of mates and remember the good old days when cinema's seemed better haha.

I would say average amount spent per trip is like £15-£18 just on me :D. When I was at college in 2000ish tickets cost £3-£5 at the same cinema :o
